Israel has invaded Gaza 3 times in the past 68yrs (1956, 1967 & 2023) w/ the intention of imposing a military occupation over Gaza.

In all 3 cases, within weeks of the war's end, the Israeli government tried to find a way to ethnically cleanse its Palestinian inhabitants. A 🧵 In 1956, Israel invaded Gaza. PM David Ben-Gurion setup a committee to consider proposals for depopulating Gaza of its refugees.

A brief history of Israel's Gaza resettlement policy, 1967-1970. 🧵 On 18–19 June 1967, the Israeli government adopted this decision:

"...[the Gaza Strip] would be annexed to Israel once the number of refugees there was significantly reduced by transfer to other locations of countries."

Why is the US Congress so supportive of Israel's plausible genocide?

A lobbying organization (@AIPAC) w/ $100M to spend on pro-genocide candidates & no guardrails b/c of broken campaign finance law.

A short 🧵. AIPAC offered $20 million to Hill Harper to run against against Rep. Tlaib in the Democratic primary. He said no.

AIPAC offered $20 million to Nasser Beydoun to run against against Rep. Tlaib in the Democratic primary. He said no.

AIPAC failed w/Tlaib.

A 🧵 It’s been 5 weeks since @hrw said Israel was starving Palestinians “as a weapon of war.” 5 weeks since the @UN said >1 in 4 people in Gaza are starving; 5 weeks since the @WHO said the risk of famine is “increasing each day;” hrs since the @UN said “everyone in Gaza is hungry”

A brief history of Israel’s search for “non-hostile” Palestinian subcontractors, a 🧵 On Jan 4, 2024, Israeli Defense Minister Gallant published a 3-page document called the “Day After.” The day after the war ends in Gaza, “Palestinian bodies will be in charge,” with one condition. The Palestinian “entity controlling the territory” would be a “non-hostile actor.” Image

A brief history of how mainstream media in the US has erased Palestinians, a 🧵. A Jan 9, 2024 open-source study published by the @theintercept found that @nytimes, @washingtonpost, & @latimes “disproportionately emphasized Israeli deaths in the conflict; used emotive language to describe the killings of Israelis, but not Palestinians; & offered lopsided coverage of antisemitic acts in the U.S., while largely ignoring anti-Muslim racism in the wake of October 7." source: theintercept.com/2024/01/09/new…

It's strange so many liberal Zionists are angry that @netanyahu would so openly embrace @elonmusk despite his anti-Jewish tendencies.

It's strange b/c Zionists have long embraced anti-Jewish tendencies. In fact, many of Zionism's champions were deeply anti-Jewish.

A 🧵 In 1897, Theodor Herzl published a text, "Mauschel," a derogatory term for Jewish Germans connoting cheating & insincerity. Herzl believed Jews who opposed Zionism were "Mauschels," who he described as a “distortion of human character, something unspeakably low & repugnant." Image

Hamas has 3 co-founders

#1 Ibrahim Yazuri

Born in 1941 in Beit Dras, near Ashdod. On 21 May 1948, Israeli forces entered his village & indiscriminately slaughtered many women & children trying to flee the violence.

Yazuri survived.

source: Jawad, "Zionist Massacres," p.113 Image Yazuri's family fled to Khan Yunis.

On 3 Nov 1956, Israeli tanks entered Khan Yunis to "eradicate" Palestinian militant resistance.

6 🧵s to make sense of Israel/Palestine:

1) A history Palestinian non-violent resistance
2) A history of Hamas
3) A history of Israel's ethnic cleansing Palestinians
4) A history of Israel's wars on Gaza
5) A history of Gaza
6) A history of Israel’s use of disproportionate force In this 🧵, I document many cases in which Palestinians embraced non-violent resistance.

In every case, Israel responded w/ lethal & disproportionate violence.

This helps explain why a small number of Palestinians have instead turned to violence.

Israel’s Core Military Doctrine, Explained. In 17 days, Israel has killed ~6,000+ Palestinians in Gaza in response to Hamas’s October 7th massacre in which it killed ~1,300 people.

Israel has killed an order of magnitude more Palestinians (adj. for pop.)

Why don't Palestinians embrace non-violent resistence?

You've probably heard this question asked a lot over the past 2 weeks.

A short response. A🧵. From late 1987-1988, Palestinians in Gaza rose up in a series of non-violent demonstrations, strikes, boycotts & protests. They killed 0 Israelis. They were unarmed.

In response, Israel killed 142 Palestinians in Gaza.
