im taking apart this $15 toaster from amazon to learn its secrets Image the key problem i solved last night was the nichrome wire and the associated sheets of mica which insulate it from the body of the toaster

long story short sheets of USA-made mica are hard to come by in small quantities but usa-made ceramic washers/bushings are available Image
