The glamour and celeb worship has destroyed many elements of our deen.
Imagine the sorrow... glamour of online da'wah and fundraising pushes us to give 1000s towards huge projects seeking millions on global platforms.
All while local small projects are neglected to the core!
I always say, "Make the best use of your funds".
If you locality effort needs a financial hand, then make sure majority funding goes to local effort. Consider that as your mandate! Regard other efforts on a Nafl level.

Mufti Hashim Amod Saheb rahimahullah has returned to His Rabb.
Inna lillahi Wa inna ilayhi raje'oon.
Hazrat was my ustadh for Meerath & Jalalayn Shareef. He was student and a friend of My Sheikh Mufti Ebrahim Desai Saheb rahimahullah and a Khalifa of Hakeem Akhtar rahimahullah
Hazrat founded the Madrasah Akhtar ul Uloom. He was sought after for his candid and insightful Tafseer discourses in the Overport Area.
He conducted special classes for ladies where many benefited from him.
He was called upon many time for his expertise in inheritance at DIM.

Jumu'a Reading of Surah al Kahaf... Something from pondering...
This is not choice being given, nor a right of choosing one's path being validated by Allah.
If that were the case, then the command just before this would not have been :
{وَقُلِ الْحَقُّ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ } [الكهف: 29]
Despite whatever the addressee chooses, the command is to stick with Haqq, and the Haqq shall always reign supreme.
Still not clear enough?

I observed that my select few teachers had a very peculiar quality. Even hearing a news contrary to their desires, they would have this sense of blissful musarrat (happiness) as though they were already content at how things unfolded.
An example was when I informed my hazrat @MuftiEbrahim about my final decision to move back to Canada. I sensed that the news was not a good one for him. At some level I felt the pain myself too.
Yet, hazrat had such a smile/happiness and long list of duas for me and my future.

Lets talk about "Begging" in islam:
1. Scholars in islam say that it is *forbidden* for a person who possesses a single day's provision and clothing to beg without need.
2. Such an individual who is capable and able-bodied for working, however does not have Nisab, although is allowed to receive zakat (though discouraged immensely) is *still* not allowed to beg and stretch hand out to someone else.

We read malfuzaat of mashayekh and it gives us look into their lives.
But the time I have spent with my Sheikh, words only form small portion of what I took from him.
My feelings at his impressions and gestures taught me many things..
I cannot even put them to words!
Once, I sat next to Hazrat with a istiftaa in my hand to review it before sending the answer to mustafti, waiting for him to be free.
After few minutes, he turned towards me and I put the paper in front of him. He looked at it, tilted his head slightly squinting one eye....

There are roles which students cannot undertake as long as they consider themselves to be students.
A student may not "act" as a teacher, unless he has been instructed to teach or explain to other students.
Quite often, even this is a supervised lesson for that student.
The student must not misunderstand this to mean that he has excelled to the level of a teacher. He must undertake it just as any other command of his teacher and carry it out.
While he is in the role of a "student", all speculations/critique is off limit unless instructed.

The sincerity in intention lay with your heart.
The pronunciation of that sincere intent is just a way to double down on your Nafs and establish your intent.
However, this can become tricky where social norms force you to pronounce an intent which was not really sincere.
Many people are pressured to make an intention, where the intent of heart has no jazm (firmness).
Some even register it down to show that there will be a record of it as a witness.
But in absence of real intent in heart, you have established evidences against yourself.

This poll was for me to understand one simple thing. How many of the people discern between the nuances of such terminology.
There is a legal definition of something, and public understanding of something.
Then there are nuances in public understandings as well. One persons homophobia may not be another person's hatred.
All sins are despicable, and not liking a sin is requirement of every society, even secular legal one.
It is just that secular world defines its sin in one way..

Without going into details, I feel when it comes to Halal/Haram certification our stances should be transparent.
As old Muslims in West, we have grown to make our choices for ourselves. So if I am going to rely on some Certifying body, I want to know ALL their stances!
When I see HMA (@HMA_Canada) I feel at ease that they are stern in their choice of only hand slaughter, tasmiya and regular unannounced reviews of slaughter facility. It gives me ease in relying on HMA.
If that is not the case, I need to be informed of such!

A brain works like a computer. If you input too much information, the CPU gets overloaded quite possibly negatively affecting the important processes like "Qur'an learning" etc.
Games, TV and such programs hog the CPU, and clog the memory. So Qur'an learning gets bogged down.
Memorization works like hard drive optimization. If you have numerous random bits of sectors constantly being downloaded, all randomly placed in different sectors, their optimization can take immensely long time.
