Some pandemic era facts about Fresno newbies from the newly released 2021 American Community Survey microdata.
1) 18% of Californians who moved to Fresno in 2020 work from home, compared to 10% of Fresno locals. 2) Californians who moved to Fresno in 2020 and bought a home had median homevalue of 440K, compared to 380K for Fresno local homebuyers. BUT, the newbies had a median mortgage payment of only $670, compared to $1600 for Fresno local homebuyers. Newbies must have more cash.
