I'm not going to reshare the article because it's shameful and tasteless -- but Cooper Hood has been a great guy for however long I've known him.

But there's a serious problem within the digital media landscape; a problem growing that is taking over every outlet online. Someone, somewhere at corporate in a thousand-dollar suit sees the numbers these articles put up and decide that's the priority. It's about the clicks, the revenue, the almighty number.

It's not about journalism. It's not about the quality of writing. It's about ranking and SEO.

Here's a direct quote from Bob Iger's memoir about the roadblocks implemented by Ike Perlmutter that prevented movies featuring minorities to be made. He tried preventing Black Panther from being made. It made $1.344B. He tried preventing Captain Marvel from being made. It made $1.12B.

If you or I made a business decision that prohibited our employer from earning almost $2.5B, our careers would be in ruins.
