I’ve been helping a few people in Gaza… but one situation has gone way too far.
At first, it was constant pressure.
DMs, mentions, replies… even X calls. Repeated threats of suicide if I didn’t help. Pressure to donate, demands to message others, to tag others, to chase them, to pin posts, to constantly do more.
I gave the benefit of the doubt. I assumed desperation and I promoted him and I donated twice.
But what’s come out since is far worse, a genuinely nefarious pattern of behaviour.
A well-known pro-Palestine journalist and activist (a real one, not just an X personality) told me this person threatened to label them a “Zionist” if they didn’t donate or help. They were even told to stop posting about Palestine… potentially linked to his connection with an ex-Israeli Unit 8200 individual managing his campaign.
TWO other prominent journalists/fundraisers have now come forward:
• One had to tell him to stop tagging them
• Another tells me he’s a “known scammer,” “manipulator,” and “liar”
• Said he’s been lying about his condition, which is reportedly “years old and already treated” and he has been saying he has “days left” for months.
• And yes… they’ve also received the same suicide threats, pressure tactics and X calls
I’m also told organisations like Radio Watermelon are aware of him. It’s possible he has forged a radio watermelon certificate. I’m am awaiting confirmation on this. As I can’t find him on the RW page…
Then it gets worse.
He has REFUSED actual aid on the ground.
Food parcels. Nappies. Baby formula. All rejected.
He’s even turned away help and verification from Rebuild Gaza.
According to a doctor in Gaza, he’s receiving free medical treatment from an NGO clinic.
And somehow… it still gets worse.
He is now copying other Palestinians’ posts almost word for word, inventing scenarios that aren’t his, just to raise money. I have seen this with my own eyes have been sent screenshots to prove it.
That’s honestly exploitation.
On top of that, his fundraiser is managed by a former Israeli Unit 8200 individual named Shaiel… a person he actually warned me about. He told me not to support other Palestinians linked to this guy, claiming they’re a “controlled group” that “attack people.”
At the same time, he tried to control who I help… telling me not to pin other people’s posts while pushing his own as more urgent.
And now he’s using my name to message others.
I won’t name him. He’s still verifiably in Gaza. Which is why i supported him. But if I distance myself and get attacked for it… now you know why. He will be the only Palestinian I distance myself from in all my years on this platform.
This has been stressful, draining, and honestly heartbreaking. It doesn’t just affect me, it reduces my ability to help people who genuinely need it.
For context… I speak to many people in Gaza. This is the ONLY time I’ve encountered anything like this.
And the key difference? This is the one time I tried to verify myself one of the people posting their links under all my posts and replies. My sincere apologies to these people. I simply can’t verify everyone alone.
I’ll continue posting fundraisers daily like I have for months.
But going forward, I’m sticking ONLY to verified campaigns from trusted contacts and organisations like Radio Watermelon, and the vetted fundraisers I already work with.
I also work with an active and connected fundraiser who has been sending me pre-vetted campaigns for many months and has never steered me wrong.
When I first tried to set basic boundaries, advised against spamming, and asked for verification… some guy called me a “parasite” and threatened to doxx and attack me. He obviously cares a lot but I don’t think we should act like this.
Anyways, learn the signs:
Constant pressure
Emotional blackmail
Copying stories
Refusing real aid
Trying to control you
Don’t be afraid to set boundaries.
Charity is a marathon, not a sprint.
