A short thread on what could prove to be a major headache for the PM.
The below @instituteforgov chart shows how few MPs there are left that Theresa May could appoint as ministers/PPSs.
MPs with blue or pink squares are those whose appointment might be problematic for the Govt.
There are just 46 MPs whose recent conduct and voting record is such that it would be unlikely to be too difficult to bring them into the Govt.
I can’t recall any time a PM’s options have been more limited. In 2000, Blair had ~220 MPs to choose from. In 2015, Cameron had ~160.

Labour have tabled a motion of no-confidence in the Government.
I've been looking at these for @instituteforgov since it last looked like this might happen. Here's a short thread with five quick insights from historical no-confidence motions:
1) They are rare, and tend to be unsuccessful. Of 26 motions of no confidence voted on in the Commons since 1945, just one has passed.
The last confidence motion we had was in November 1994, and the last time the opposition tabled a motion of no confidence was in March 1991.
