There’s been some confusion about brand safety controls & reporting supported in PMax.
So I want to share a rundown of important levers available to help you control the types of content your PMax ads can appear next to in Search, Shopping, Display & Video inventory.

First up … Search & Shopping suitability controls
- New PMax campaign-level brand exclusions prevent your ads from serving for specific brand queries in Search & Shopping

- Account-level negative keywords prevent your ads from showing for those queries in Search & Shopping

Today we began notifying affected advertisers of changes to simplify & align campaign location targeting settings across campaign types, starting in March support.google.com/google-ads/ans….

Here’s what’s happening & why: In target settings, we’ll remove the “Search interest: People searching for your target locations'' option, which had very low adoption. You’ll still be able to target “Presence or interest” or “Presence”.

🌟 Several PMax announcements today — thanks to your feedback!

You likely saw account-level negative keywords started rolling out next month for brand suitabilty & other purposes. Now coming soon are… 🥁 Campaign-level brand exclusions for branded queries on Search & Shopping inventory. Campaign-level brand exclusions will apply to most misspellings & brand searches in a foreign language.

There is some confusion about the Google Analytics notices letting users know that if you haven't already set up a GA4 property, we’ll help jumpstart the process for you.

Here’s what is happening & the options available: First, to clarify, this update has no impact on existing UA or GA4 properties. And if you already have a GA4 property fully set up, no action is required.

Yesterday we notified advertisers who’ve opted into auto-apply recommendations for removing redundant keywords. There’ve been some questions and confusion about the update and I’ll try to address them in this thread: Q. What’s happening?
A. If you have a phrase or exact match kw (e.g. women’s hats) & a broad match kw that’s understood to be equivalent (e.g. ladies hats), & opted into AAR for removing redundant keywords, Google will remove the exact/phrase match kws & keep the broad match.
