As the front page of today's @NYTimes starkly depicts a year of grief, the back pages include a death notice of my mother, who passed away two weeks ago of natural causes. Four months ago in October, the Sunday Times had a similar notice in memory of my father. Rest in Peace. (1) Obituaries, like tweets with their character & line limits, feel inadequate for describing the loss of my parents. But publishing their passing in the paper of record of my hometown--of which I still get Sunday editions--seems an appropriate marker in a time of social distance.
