This is why fossil fuel companies are scared and are pressuring the Assembly and @CarlHeastie to slow down electrification 👇 21,500 heat pumps were installed last year in NY - 3x more than the year before. If we can sustain this growth, we’ll be installing hundreds of thousands in a few years and we’ll meet @GovKathyHochul’s goal of 2 million all-electric homes by 2030

National Grid (downstate) was supposed to release a tool today comparing the costs/benefits of different kinds of heating options like heat pumps, "natural" gas, and oil.

Now, they're delaying the release of this tool until after the legislative session.🤔 Good thing LIPA released this fact sheet:

Heat pumps are the most cost-effective way to decarbonize our buildings!

"With LIPA rebates, building a new all-electric home with a heat pump costs less than a home connected to the natural gas system."

The nuclear industry always exploits and harms Indigenous communities.

Dr. Tommy Rock explains that the Navajo Nation contains over 500 abandoned uranium mines, which leads to contaminated water. Uranium enters people’s bodies through inhalation, ingestion, absorption, and circulation.

Indian Point nuclear plant is closing this week.

Some people are relieved and continue to work for a nuclear-free, carbon-free energy future in NY.

Others are fear mongering and spreading misinformation.

Here’s what’s going on... 👇 Indian Point will shut down for good reasons.

It has had 7 malfunctions including an explosion, radiation leaks, and an oil spill.

It was rated #1 in the US for risk of meltdown due to earthquake.

20 million people live within 50 miles of Indian Point.
