update on kaist unfair dismissal trial:

i lost trial 3. reading the decision, it is apparent why: the judges refused to evaluate most of the arguments that i had made, and made some "interesting" interpretations of statements/wording in contracts

i am appealing. we go agane most interesting "interpretation" was the judges deciding that "your contract period is from 2022.x.y~2023.x.y" meant "your contract can start at minimum from 2022.x.y and can go maximum to 2023.x.y" (i.e., kaist could freely change the dates at will)

[2024 kaist corruption scandal: the firing 🧵]

first, some background. as a government institution, kaist is required to put out public advertisements for positions, and hire "fairly". here is the advertisement i answered, for a 1 year contract: 13 sept 2022 to 12 sept 2023 despite the above, kaist is claiming that my contract period was from 1 nov 2022 to 28 march 2023 (less than 5 months). why? because they, unilaterally, made an "internal decision" to just wildly change my contract period *after i had begun working*

kaist fired me 10 days after i internally accused professor jinjoon lee of human rights violations. they, of course, could not use that as a reason for firing me. instead they claimed i was not coming to work, and produced this chart as evidence. it is entirely fabricated 👇

in the above chart you can see kaist accusing me of not coming to work at all on february 2. luckily for me, i happened to have a picture of my desk at that time (which i took because i was asked to send a picture of my signature to a student, and i was paranoid of them)

kaist @kaistpr professor jinjoon "vendetta" lee @jinjoon_lee forced me to send a fairly large sum of money to his wife's bank account, under threat of withdrawing an offer to be a postdoc in his lab. university leadership such as president kwang hyung lee did nothing about this kaist @kaistpr professor jinjoon "vendetta" lee @jinjoon_lee has also repeatedly reported me to the korean police in an attempt to intimidate me into silence, and to prevent me from speaking out against these issues

to give you a sense of how unhinged my former postdoc advisor was:

1) actually nearly 100% of the reason i grew this account was to get help in case i needed danger

2) i just checked his twitter and it looks like the below now, i have no doubt this is targeted directly at me i will still stay on x even if the danger goes away because i love you all
