One of the provisions of our new contract that I’m especially proud we achieved isn’t as easily digestible as other provisions, but it’s so important: increasing the “caps” — or “ceilings” — on Pension & Health contributions. I’ll do my best to explain the wonky details. 1/
For more than 40 years, if you made more than a certain amount per episode of work in episodic TV (including for streaming services), the studios would stop contributing monies into our Pension & Health Fund for any dollar made over that “cap” or “ceiling.” 2/

I’ve been reading, & enjoying, an old-fashioned high fantasy comfort read, Pawn of Prophecy, by the late David Eddings. Curious about the author, I discovered he & his (uncredited coauthor) wife served jail time for caging their adopted son in their basement. 1/
They also verbally & emotionally abused their adopted daughter. It’s difficult to imagine the effect this sort of depravity & cruelty had on their children. My heart goes out to them.
The authors are both deceased, & their estate has given money to literacy programs. 2/

A maximum security adult prison. I have considered writing something based on her life and based on her work as a nurse. Including based on stories she shared with me of her engagements with the prisoners she cared for. 2/?
