Hello from the Colorado Convention Center in empty downtown Denver. Workers are now preparing this building to be used as an emergency hospital. Soon the governor will hold a press conference and then we will tour the hospital area. I’ll tweet what we see/hear. Image There are 300 people working to build this emergency hospital at the Colorado Convention Center, Polis says. Work began 48 hours ago.

"This building is extremely well-situated, because it normally has construction and teardown on a regular basis," Polis says.

In a few minutes, Colorado Gov. Jared Polis will deliver a special statewide address about the coronavirus and the state's response. I'll thread highlights here. Polis: "I know many of you watching this evening are distressed, frustrated angry, not just because we're stuck inside, but because we're unsure of what the future holds."

Call this "surreal" and a "cruel joke."

Colorado passes Amendment A and officially, finally, in 2018, once-and-for-all, bans slavery in this state. Note that 35 percent of Colorado voters are opposing Amendment A, which bans slavery. One third of the state.
