“NEVER AGAIN”

One of my councillor colleagues asked me about my white poppy today so I thought I’d share what the white poppy is and why I wear one.

🧵/1 When soldiers returned from the trenches after having fought the First World War in 1918, the message and political challenge they brought back with them was “Never Again”.

It’s scary to see how fragile our food system has become.

These empty shelves at the Lerwick Tesco this evening are the result of just a few days’ disruption in our food supply.

1/ Shetland hasn’t had cargo from the UK mainland for 3 days and the supermarkets feel like ghost towns. There were no green vegetables apart from this one manky cabbage.
