On Valentines Day food delivery couriers will be striking with the intention of causing major disruption on the busiest night of the year. @Deliveroo & others are terrified after the success of round one. Deliveroo prefer to gaslight & divide rather than engage with workers 🧵 Image On Friday, just days before the strikes, Deliveroo contacted the organisers delegitimising their demands. They claim to offer “attractive earnings” & that pay has in fact increased. Last week’s huge strike clearly points to the opposite. Actions speak louder than words! Image

1) Thanks for all your support with the #ShameOnOcado campaign so far. Here’s a thread of the timeline leading to the campaign & exposing some of the cruel tactics @Ocado are using to try & either force HUGE pay cuts on these key workers or force them out all together! 2) In 2018 @Ocado saw opportunity in rapid delivery & thought they’d test it with a depot in West London. With unknown demand, they didnt commit to employee contracts & opted for exploitative gig economy model to build business. Not what you expect from household name like Ocado!

Hey @maitlis, great to see you bigging up a @Deliveroo courier but thought you might like to know a few facts about what conditions these key workers operate under after plugging their exploitative employer to your 418.9k followers (Thread)

1)Couriers have provided a vital service throughout the pandemic delivering food to the vulnerable, the sick and the public to keep them safe. However couriers' employers have done very little to look after them
