This issue with Silicon Valley Bank is going to cause a massive explosion today. They appear to be insolvent. How many employees don’t get paid today?

Interesting unscientific observation on XBB.1.5 from Ct Values:

Initial positives have higher Ct values (lower viral load) than BQ.1.1 or BA.5. This includes symptomatic patients.

I have no idea what this means yet... Could the antigenic drift make PCR tests less sensitive?
Could the virus be causing earlier symptoms?

What else?

If what happened to PPE in 2020 happens to antibiotics...

Well, we'll always have Ivermectin. 🤣 Trump would suggest trying to eat some antibiotic filled chicken 🤣

Has COVID again. He was tested on with a RAT (SNF says they have no access to PCR). They sent me a swab today - he has COVID. Was hospitalized for NOT COVID - the hospital also does not test. They said pneumonia. I wonder how much NOT COVID is just COVID but the morons at hospitals are trusting RATs.

Democratic politicians pushing healthcare reform solely craft their message about costs and access to patients. But their policies are always a way of shifting more money from providers to payers.

If we want to fix healthcare, we need to do the opposite. We need to unburden providers. We need to get doctors back to being doctors. We need doctors to have time to learn and be up to speed with the latest science and have time to listen and invest their expertise into their patients.

I haven't disclosed this previously as I didn't want to get into the debate about the severity of COVID.

Yes, I had a BA.2 infection prior to BA.2 surging in the United States. I decided to meet a friend after they escaped Ukraine in early March.

🧵 I took my standard precautions & made sure they received a PCR test prior to unmasked exposure. I made a grave mistake. I didn't look at their results myself. They didn't get a PCR but a RAT. They previously infected person (unvaccinated) didn't show symptoms but was positive.

I’m going to be an interesting case study today. I have a fever 100.4. Negative on Accula and Binax. Waiting on lab based PCR.

My unvaccinated / no previous infected girlfriend who I have been with for 14 days. Has no symptoms at all. I have a cough, slight sore throat and a bad headache with muscle pain.

Something to watch (I hope someone smarter than me can help with the analysis)

The number of deaths during and following a surge (deaths trail infection peaks) with each subsequent variant/surge will increase in comparison to hospitalizations and reported cases. I'm suspecting that every surge will lead to more deaths as a percentage of hospitalizations. This is not just from under testing but from unattributed / non respiratory complications from SARS-CoV-2.

We will never have herd immunity from SARS-CoV-2 but we do have a herd mentality in healthcare. A short 🧵on how herd mentality of clinicians is a major problem for defeating COVID and US healthcare in general. I originally founded Flow Health as an artificial intelligence platform to improve how we diagnose and treat diseases. The fundamental premise was to use objective data to train AI models that could use probabilities to answer the following questions:

Politicians have convinced the American people that their sexual indiscretions are not of public concern. But let me explain why it matters.

When a foreign intelligence service turns someone into an asset - it is because they have leverage on that person. If you decide to become President, Senator, Congressman or Justice - you should not have the right to privacy. People will do anything to keep their personal embarrassing secrets, secret. This creates the slippery slope that you could argue makes one sympathetic to an adversary.

I was recently asked “Why does testing for COVID matter?” In the context that we don’t really have effective early treatments. It’s multifaceted answer. Let me try to share. Personal reasons:

there is evidence that resting early infections reduces complications / long COVID.

Access Monoclonals and Pax (for certain people)

Justify sick leave for employers.

Documentation in case of future disability

I often debate with my team on how this fall/winter will be different than 2020 or 2021. Here is a quick summary.

Summer 2022 had more circulating infection than 20/21.

Public has access to RATs and have been mislead to believe they are a comparative alternative to PCR They had BA.1 and it was mild. COVID is over.

Many test positive with "mild symptoms" and continue with their daily lives outside of their family

Some people believe the next booster will finally give them the immunity promised by government funded scientists and politicians.

If Flow Health offered a bulk (e.g. 10 day) pack of saliva PCR kits for COVID with FedEx return shipping labels and accepted insurance (no patient cost if you use the kits but we will take a credit card authorization for the cost of kits/shipping) - would you be interested? This would give you/family the ability to test on a regular basis after public exposure to COVID.

Biden created his USPS RAT program with funding previously allocated to HRSA that funded uninsured Americans and public PCR testing sites.

You have to wonder about the population level of positivity in LA right now. We have around 150 people that work inside our lab in Culver City, CA. This excludes anyone with patient contact or other business functions. This purely Specimen Processors, Lab Techs and CLSs. 1/ We have 10 positive employees. That's about ~6% of all. All but 2 are known reinfections from BA.1 to BA.2 (1 is questionable / new employee). 2/

These employees wear PPE (KN95s or N95s indoors) at all times inside, we use HEPA filters and take other measures. 3/

Just a couple of days ago I had certain people suggest my tweets about BA.2 dominance in the US was a non-event or wrong. Then today wastewater is showing the early signs of a coming surge. 1/ With the political push to 'cancel' COVID - we are somewhat blind to the different strains and their implications. BA.2 might not evade BA.1 past infection immunity now but BA.2.x may and all will in months time. 2/
