Like everyone, I miss eating in restaurants. In lieu of going out to eat, here's a story about a memorable night in an NYC restaurant. (thread, read to the end, etc.) In '09, I met friends for dinner after work at Balthazar. As we waited for our table, I stood at the bar and tapped out a beat with my hands while trying to make eye contact with the bartender.

With Mike Love in the headlines, I figured I'd dust off my favorite Mike Love story. Ten years ago, I went with my Dad and my friend Kayvon to see Mike Love & the Beach Boys. We had front row seats. There was no opening act. The Beach Boys played two sets with an intermission. At the break, Kayvon says he wants some nachos. So we go up to the concession stand.

“Wait, he’s currently president? Of the United States?” -Wes Anderson, sipping on espresso at a cafe in Milan. “I’m being told they elected him?” -Wes Anderson to Anjelica Huston, in Milan, at a Prada fashion show.

Some personal news: I staffed on “Ellen’s Game of Games.” The writers’ room is in one of her oceanside Montecito villas. Not sure which one. Waiting for her assistant to confirm. Excited! Just got an email from the Game of Games writers' assistant: "Ellen wants to make sure you've read Donald Rumsfeld's memoir and seen all eight 'Saw' movies before you start in the room." Gotta do my homework.

I staffed on the next season of "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee." My packet was descriptions of cars. Room is in the Hamptons. Just got to the room. There is a framed photo of a 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera on the wall and multiple Lavazza espresso machines.
