Kristi, you ask why I believe Adam and Eve are mythological and why I don't take the bible literally. I'll answer - but I don't think that will be helpful.

To start, "Adam" was not a man's name - it meant "humankind." That's the least of it. @KristiM50696232 @hookskat 2/17
As for literal interpretation, ancient religious texts cannot be taken as history (or science) textbooks. While they no doubt contain at least some historic events and persons, they cannot be taken as factual and infallible.

Psychosis is inability to distinguish reality. It can be sensory - hallucinations in any of the 5 senses, & it can be a thought disorder - delusional beliefs that are far out of touch with reality.

He always lied - now we see he believes things that are far from reality. @R03343162 @davidmweissman @realDonaldTrump 2/6
We commonly see psychoses in the dementias and there is no doubt he's well into a dementia at this time. My professional peers and I have had quite a few chats about this - how advanced his dementia is and how we see undeniable signs of psychosis now.

I've trained state and local law enforcement from a psychological perspective. With Mr. Floyd, the police started by arresting him over a SUSPECTED counterfeit $20.

This was bad from the get-go. They needed to start by TALKING to him.

It's possible he didn't even know it was counterfeit - if it actually was. I had a counterfeit $100 and when I tried to deposit it, I was told it was counterfeit. The police were NOT called.

While it offends me to the core to see women conscripted to covering their bodies for reason of their sex - I see it as misogynistic for any religion to require a woman to cover herself or her hair because she is female - this is outstanding. 2/7
That said, if we had thousands of years of history of women running things, we may have caused just as much harm as men have. And perhaps as much good as men have done.

A virus is a piece of RNA (or DNA) in a protein (or lipid) coat. These novel viruses often come from overcrowding bt humans and food-source animals. DNA/RNA can mutate and sometimes DNA/RNA an animal carries can swap some code. Then we're in trouble.

theatlantic.com/health/archive… 2/
Your first line of defense is ALWAYS get the 'flu shot. If you're exposed to a novel virus whilst sick with 'flu, you could be in trouble. Get the 'flu shot every year.

Armand, my friend, I worked in hospital & hospice. I heard quite a few near-death experience stories. Two happened in an irrefutable way, when my patients accurately told what was happening very far from where their bodies were coding. They all say religion is wrong. @AreMond2 2/
There are 4,200 religions. NONE has all the answers. All have some answers. My patients told me that all there is is Love. There isn't judgment or anger. There isn't a "right" religion. Just love.

I have a very dear friend who suffers with chronic pain from an aggressive form of arthritis. Arthritis is extremely painful; she lives in Washington state, which has the strictest forms of opiate prescribing laws.

statnews.com/2018/12/06/ove… 2/
She functioned very well for years, and ran a business on a maintenance dose of oxycodone. She never had a problem - then the laws hit and she has been reduced so much in pain management that she is truly suffering.

Melissa, I'm not a woo-woo sort of person. I'm a hard-science sort. Always have been. That said, I want to tell you about something that... well, it helps me with all that a bit. I apologize for the length. @MelissaJPeltier 2/
I worked in hospice. And I worked in hospital. I heard some of those near-death experience stories. You've heard about them. Two of them that happened in hospital with my patients were veridical - one directly involving me. I had pretty much forced my patient's parents to

DETAILS/FACTS CHANGED FOR CONFIDENTIALITY

My adolescent patient was in neurosurgery (3rd floor) for brain tumor. It was 1pm and I pretty much forced her parents to eat lunch in 1st floor cafeteria. I fumbled and spilled soup on the hapless woman in front of me in line! @DoYouEvenLIf 2/
DETAILS/FACTS CHANGED FOR CONFIDENTIALITY

We ate and returned to 3rd floor waiting area. Surgeon came out with good report, but told us her heart had stopped in surgery; they successfully restarted it; prognosis was good.

I think it is possible for him to run again because the MAGAs have proven that NONE of this matters to them. They see the same person we do. They go to his rallies and hear his rambling, self-derailing speeches. They see what we all see, and they think he's "real." @piratefoxy @CppuddyPiper @TrueFactsStated 2/
They have managed to change the narrative from what is obvious to what they want to see. They say he's "crazy like a fox" and playing all of us. They say he's far too clever for us to understand his strategy. They say he's saving jobs and keeping us safe while ignoring the

David, I'm sorry you have been treated ill by liberals - but I know that you are aware of the viciousness on both sides. And if you were to become Democrat, you would be saying the exact opposite. You know this.

We are a divided nation but we ALL want the same thing. @GayRepublicSwag 2/
We all want a strong country, a safe planet, peace and trade worldwide. I believe you want a healthy ecosystem and you want to protect our world for future generations. I believe you want a strong economy, jobs and growth, and food and healthcare for all.

For @julianorobertrj who asked about the Goldwater Rule

I’m often asked about the Goldwater Rule. It does not apply to me; I am a PhD. It applies only to MDs. That said, some psychologists feel we should adhere to that rule. I disagree strongly with this view. 2/9
