@secupp & @brianstelter Journalism isn’t just holding powerful people accountable, or just those currently in the WH/majority. The job is pushing out objective truth relevant to things people want/need to know. You *should* be biased in favor of the truth, not neutral re persons. Beating up on Biden to prove absence of bias *toward persons* proves too much. Trump was a garbage president, a traitor, and an epic liar. Journalists don’t need to balance their coverage, they just need to find and tell the truth, same as ever.

Folks, let me set you straight on how to relate crime data, both current and over time, to current policy debates. Most of what Alex says here is correct. Overall crime down, only murders up. So, how do we compare these things.

Obviously, murder is a big problem, especially if it happens to you. So, weight your concern accordingly. But given that murder is such a small piece of total crime (0.1%), we need some information about how much harm it causes, and how much resources are expended, to compare.

I once had to fire an employee for stealing. The amount of the theft was not trivial but was relatively small as a % of receipts. The money she stole wasn’t the ultimate problem, it was the money she might continue to steal if allowed, and the burden of babysitting. We have a huge number of people among us who are interested in overturning a legitimate election by force. The problem is less the insurrection they’ve tried already, though they should each get at least 5 yrs prison for it, and more the decades of future sedition.

The biggest lie here is that somehow #LocalGov can tell who would vote for Bernie Sanders or Tulsi Gabbard just by looking at their voter registration. How tf would we do that?

The second biggest lie is that this is even plausible at a technical level. In CA, voter rolls are maintained cooperatively by the CA Secretary of State & the Registrar of Voters in each of its 58 counties, respectively. Nobody ✌️unregisters✌️voters without proper documentation.
