Got my new mac from @weights_biases and it's been a while since I installed one, so will do a X setup thread cause why not?

As always, I never transfer anything, start from scratch every time, this way I get to re-decide what I use!

Thread mostly for me but follow along if u like I'm already a bit into this, but just barely.

First up as always, @1Password, undeniably the most important app to get on your mac first, so than everything else will become easier 🫡

@1Password also holds my SSH certificates for a while now, and has an SSH agent, so I no longer have to send my keys over from the older mac.

My Watchtower security score in @1Password is 358 (Weak) 🤪 🚧 🚜 (but keep in mind I've been using 1P for well over a decade and a BUNCH of these are old accounts I no longer use, my important accounts are all unique long passwords and 2 step protected with no sms, and slowly moving to passkeys, which 1P supports!)

You know how many folks struggled to get a JSON output consistently? For the use of agents and other stuff?

Well, OpenAI took it 1 step further and gave us function calls! How do they work👇 First of all, many developers have struggled with consistent JSON output to their models (yes including me)

This led to hacks like trAI/except and other methods, I saw folks switching to yaml and xml among other solutions

I just had a great experience with @Tesla Littleton.

Our Model Y stopped heating the car and showed a notification to take it into service.

This + two small kids in a 25F weather, no bueno. I scheduled service via the app and the closest appointment was 5 days away.

/1 But I texted them through the App and asked to make sure they have a loaner (they usually give Uber credits) as I need to prepare for a kid weekend, and see if they can squeeze me in. Louis reached out the next day and said to come in immediately and that a loaner is waiting

Fighting the good fight, my chat doesn't want to ... use the internet the way I'm trying to ask it by shoving it into a prompt 🤔
I know for a fact it can, I did it before, just... not constantly.

I give you, @telegram #chatGPT 😅 with slight improvements:
- Doesn't wait 10 seconds
- Typing indicator
- Parses code blocks and sends code appropriately
- Zuck can't read the chat Code MIT licensed here, I needed to refresh my telegram skills for @vidtranslator next iteration (as a telegram bot)

I've been on twitter all day, listened to tons of folks, opinions, trolls, you know... a day on twitter.

Here's my bet: Twitter as a tech platform, may crash a few times, maybe even for a day or two.
But Twitter the community will wait it out, and come back to talk about it 🧵 on Twitter.

There's nothing else like it. Google is where you ask questions, Twitter is where you understand what just happened.

And if twitter went down, folks would immediately want to .. write about it on twitter.

So they will come back, more than before.
