It’s 2023 and the international / multilateral system is still oriented towards a western / euro centric focus. Am struck by how many of my friends unable to celebrate Eid today because they are stuck in some meetings/ workshops / training with others in the same fate (1) Surely it doesn’t take a lot to google key world religious holidays and understand when people might have time off and then be sensitive to that especially if a large portion of your audience comes from that region or faith (2)

Today I’ve been invited to attend two webinars from Sri Lanka on the proposed #MMDA reforms which are being seen as a challenge to religious freedoms. there are strong emotions on both sides of this argument but there has to be representation of both sides of the argument (1) The two #mmda webinars are all male panels which I find bizarre, because if the discussions are around reforms to marriage laws and involves women, why are there no women on the panels?It’s unacceptable to not have people who are directly affected by the reforms on the panel (2)
