Has @BBCNews giving up all pretence of being an impartial news channel?

The evening news today carries a story on asylum seekers, where BBC has shown bias with imagery, inflammatory words and upfront gaslighting narratives turned it into an art form. /1 It has used the phrase ā€œasylum seekersā€ 10 times verbally and 4 times in print in the four minute *news brief*, without once acknowledging the role of the Home Office processing incompetence or the very willing hotel owners who are being paid for housing asylum seekers. /2

ā€œAs a Director, I can direct a scene, but I cannot erase the horror from peopleā€™s eyes.ā€

Kurt Gerron who made the fake film about the ā€œUtopianā€ Thereseinstadt on behest of Hitler.

Gerron was eventually executed at Auschwitz. Does this sound familiar?

A short šŸ§µon Russia, the ECHR and Suella Braverman.

On 15-03-22, Russia left the Council of Europe upon learning that the Council had unanimously voted to expel Russia for invading Ukraine.

Russia maintains that it left the CoE as it wanted to reintroduce the death penalty./1 The CoE prohibits death penalty.

The ECHR was one of the last resorts for many Russians (6000 cases pending as of now) whose cases had been rejected by the Russian courts.

These cases ranged from human rights violations to political persecution and even domestic violence. /2

Spoiler Alert Brexiters.

The United Kingdom is *still* part of the European Courts Of Human Rights, ECHR.

No buts and no ifs. /1 If the UK government is googling which countries in Europe are not part of the ECHR.

Answer is Russia, Belarus and the Vatican City. /2

Brexit has taken us away, not just from a union with 27 countries, but also from our integrity, decency and world standing. /1 Brexit was enabled by blatant, unchecked lies.
Lies about its benefits,
Lies about its future opportunities, and Lies about our exceptionalism.

Without recognising the fraud Brexit is, we cannot move forward. /2

Six years on, the Tory government has been unable to offer any coherent explanation on Brexit and its opportunities.

The narrowly won referendum sealed with an 80 seat majority based on, ā€œget Brexit doneā€ slogan remains undone, incomplete and a complete mystery. /1 If today those who voted Brexit were asked why or what they voted for,
would they come up with any thing more than simple slogans, ā€œtake control of our bordersā€, ā€œmoney for NHSā€, ā€œsovereigntyā€, take back control from Brusselsā€, ā€œglobal Britainā€, ā€œmake our own rulesā€? /2

This is rather interesting.

Putinā€™s decision to invade Ukraine was not supported by Russian Central bank Governor, someone he had worked very closely with for two decades. Neither Putin, nor his officials in their scenario planning imagined the extreme extent of sanctions that would be imposed on them. Image

Everybody is angry that Boris Johnson compared his Brexit lies to the Ukraineā€™s very real fight for democracy, freedom and lives against Putinā€™s aggressive invasion.

This is what Ukraineā€™s President Zelenskyy is fighting for on the world stage.
šŸ§µ/1 While we may get angry at Johnson when he compares himself foolishly to Zelenskyy, Churchill and most likely eventually even Gandhi or Mandela.

It is important to see that it is all a distraction from what Johnson is and what he wants. /2

PS: Biden is speaking Xi tomorrow. /1 Private jets flying from Moscow to Dubai is not uncommon at all.

Dubai, apart from being a celebrity and exiled despotā€™s favourite hangout, is also the fourth largest gold trading hub in the world.
And the gold market isnā€™t heavily regulated one. /2

In retrospect, do Conservative and Labour voters realise that Brexit didnā€™t achieve any of their core ideologies?

*Neither market freedom nor freedom of people

*Neither order & hierarchy nor equality & fraternity

*Neither lower taxes nor income equality/1 *Neither nationalism nor internationalism, just division within the country. /2

Throughout modern history, Britain has never truly been economically self sufficient, seeking riches abroad at great cost to other countries. The same mentality presided over UKā€™s initial joining of the EEC as well as its subsequent exit from the EU. /1 While Britain is perfectly happy reaping benefits, they find it unpalatable to collaborate with other nations on a equal footing. It always wants a special deal, something extra, Johnson sums it up perfectly as ā€œeat cake and have it tooā€, without contributing anything extra. /2

My husband and I are spending our Friday arguing about what approach Starmer should take.

His view is Labour should take a differentiated path- rejoin EU, calling out Brexit failure.

My view is that he would alienate a majority of electorate with it.
Here is why. šŸ§µ Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, Youtube, Discord, Whatā€™sApp & FB are the new knitting circles of society.Ā  Ā

Our maximum interaction, validation & source of most (if not all) news, ideas & opinions are formed here (across all relevant demographics). The pandemic,ā€¦Ā /1

I was about 12, when a man on the street asked my dad for help.

My dad did.
Later I asked curiously, ā€œwhat if the man was lying and taking advantage of you, daddyā€. /1 My dad replied, ā€œI have enough and can afford to be taken advantage of, but what if he really needed help and I didnā€™t give it. That would be a real crimeā€.

For me, even today, that reply defines and indeed answers all questions on refugees, frauds and all other../2

Why would US risk sharing nuclear technology with Australia, include U.K. in it, ruffle feathers of the EU, while potentially making China and Russia nervous?

Fabricate a crisis?
Create an enemy?
Try to force its hand? /1 Considering the fact that nuclear submarines are one of the last line of defence/counter attack in a total nuclear war. This is an expensive optic. (IMHO)

There is more involved, but for now US has made the first very public, very graceless, and very aggressive move. Why? /2

Where to next, U.K.?
Short šŸ§µ

Current food shortages, if we are to believe industry experts, will last at least two years. We are told not to expect the products we were used to in supermarket shelves./1 What needs to change?

Dear Mr Johnson,
I hope you are happy being the prime minister of the U.K.
This is notice that majority of us are not. /1 These are the things you have messed up, and continue to mess up, since 2015 and since you have become PM.

What Brexit really did? Itā€™s worst crime in my opinion: It broke the spirit of some wonderful brilliant and decent people.
It shook the core foundation of their existence /1 They are the special part of all societies- kind, thoughtful, educated, contribute to things that enriched U.K. like music, arts, drama, literature, culture, hard work, kindness and honesty. /2
