Today, 40 colleagues & I released the Carbon Dioxide Removal Primer: cdrprimer.org

@tolyrinberg & I wrote Ch 1: The Case for CDR: From Science to Justice

Plans for massive CDR scale up based on cost present real moral hazards. So how much CDR is 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱? 🧵 Why is understanding the scale of CDR required so important?

I understood CDR to be “good for the climate” & took that for granted. When you see plots suggesting we’ll be ok if we just remove 20GtCO2/year by the end of the century, it’s easy to just ask: how do we do it?!? 2/

For 2 years of Trump now, science has been under attack: policies ignore science; generation of new scientific studies & data has been dismantled.

With the great @POGOBlog team, I've tracked the types of attacks while fighting back. A tour of the worst that's happened in THREAD: NEW STUDIES & DATA: Trump has terminated efforts that generate scientific info. Policies that ignore science cause damage, but preventing science & data from even existing can undermine policymaking for years. 2/
