1. In public service, how you do something is as important as what you do. Sim has done a lot of damage to himself and the public trust in his gov by publicly campaigning a year ago on keeping the Park Board, getting elected and then privately building a case to get rid of it.

Normally I stay out of council business but after working with community for well over a decade to do the heavy lifting that put Vancouver in a globally significant leadership position on climate action, i have to say something about the vote yesterday. TL;DR it was a huge loss
To have a mayor cast the deciding vote against leadership on climate is emblematic of why we are in a climate emergency to begin with. Leaders need to lead. But it was not just a loss for climate action but also a loss for intellectual honesty in government.

There are only 2 reasons to have been shocked & outraged about the news of 215 Indigenous children found in a mass grave at the former Kamloops Indian Residential School: (1) personal trauma related to residential schools, mass graves and/or genocide was triggered .... /1
Or (2) this is the first time you are realizing that Canada is the perpetrator of residential schools, mass graves and genocide. If you are in the latter group and in a position of power, in a post Truth and Reconciliation Commission Canada there is no excuse for you. /2

It's been an incredible amount of work: for me and Julian but more importantly for the students. They have been working incredible hours under very difficult circumstances for client work and remote research while juggling COVID19 personal challenges with high stakes deadlines /2
