Penny McCarthy did nothing wrong, but she was arrested by US Marshals and spent a horrifying day in custody. It started with marshals speeding down her street, holding her at gunpoint, and shoving her in a car. They never bothered to check her ID. 🧵 Image

I just can't get over this line of argument the government attorney made at the Supreme Court yesterday: that officers raiding a house can make a "policy tradeoff" to not check that they are at the right address. 🧵 Image Again, this is the case where an FBI SWAT team with a warrant for a different address rushed into the wrong house. Mind you, these weren't identical looking houses. Image

Five years ago, Miladis Salgado was busy planning for her daughter’s quinceañera, a big 15th birthday party. Then the DEA took all the money for the party. I wrote about her continuing legal battle for @Forbes today: forbes.com/sites/institut… /1 /2
In short, an anonymous (and bogus) tip led the DEA to raid Miladis’ home and seize $15,000 in cash. Read the article for more details, but eventually the government admitted that there was no evidence that the money was tied to a crime.
