Last night I saw one of the craziest damn things I’ve ever seen in all my days. This guy rides solo up into the arcade, walks up to TIME CRISIS II, and plays the game start to finish on one coin — using both guns. That means he’s players 1 and 2 at the same time.
He made it a fully physical performance, taking the time to mime in-character action like holster, draw, and reload his gun during the course of the game. It was...beautiful. As my fellow witness @alex_antone remarked, it was like watching Mozart.

Just because everyone’s been talking about it, I started watching Phantom Menace and it’s so weird. For the first twenty minutes or so, nothing anyone says seems to be in response to anything else. People are just saying things, most of them confusing or stupid. How bizarre.
I’m not trying to be hyperbolic. I’m 21 minutes into this movie and I have no idea why anything is happening. Like I have no idea why this planet has been invaded.

Today mom and I talked about the way my father died a few years ago. I’ve always felt like I should get really real about it because it might help somebody not make the same choices, but it’s really depressing. Marsha Cooke’s plea for people to quit smoking made today the day.
There’s two main ways smoking is going to kill you; cancer or lung disease — aka Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease aka COPD. The latter is what got my dad, as it did Leonard Nimoy and millions of other Americans. If you smoke enough, statistically you will get one of them.

Blade Runner 2049. Hard movie to thread. So much story is told in extended shots of the hero traveling through environments by himself, saying nothing to anyone.
The film uses music and imagery to at once reference the opening of the original but also demonstrate the differences. Where BR2019 began with a kind of romanticism, a warm skyline, a vaguely utopian musical theme, 2049 opens with bleakness, cold desolation, a menacing score.
