The Danger of Isolation
My younger brother, Mark, and I decided to run a marathon. However, living far apart, we entered separate races. He finished several minutes faster than I did.
I ran the last few miles alone—and at an ever-slower pace. Mark, however, was surrounded by friends who ran alongside him at the end and kept urging him on. He finished well. Myself? Not as well as I could have.

Spiritual leakage
Samson was a man, set apart from birth by God, for unique service and the deliverance of his people. He was given great strength and a keen intellect.
As a Nazirite, certain restrictions showed he was set apart for God. He shouldn’t eat the fruit of the vine, cut his hair, or touch dead bodies.

A God of Comfort
In ancient Israel, the rod and staff of a shepherd protected and guided the sheep, and even reminded the sheep that the shepherd was there.
And so King David (who was a shepherd as a boy) used the metaphor in Psalm 23:4 to convey this truth: God was his protector and guide.

In today’s reading, we see that God called upon Abraham to sacrifice Isaac, and we learn that God’s name is Jehovah Jireh, our Provider (Genesis 22:14).
This entire scene presents a crisis of faith for Abraham. Remember, he has waited his ENTIRE LIFE for Isaac, and now God commands Abraham to KILL the very son promised to him! To make matters even worse and more confusing for Abraham, God does not even accept human sacrifices.

How to Listen Actively
Samuel was one of the greatest prophets in the Old Testament. I don’t believe it’s a coincidence that his first assignment from God was to listen for God’s voice (see 1 Sam. 3:8-10).
Samuel’s story shows us that there’s a difference between active listening and passive hearing. Hearing is something we do with our ears. If our hearing is normal, we can’t help hearing sounds traveling within a certain range. Listening, however, involves the mind.

“Ready! Aim! Fire!!”
To demonstrate the effectiveness of the bullet-proof Kevlar vests that police officers are to wear in the field, police departments employ a rather unusual training exercise.
Trainers dress mannequins in bullet-proof vests, and expert sharpshooters fire rounds into the vests.
Trainees then inspect the mannequins. The vests invariably pass the test with flying colors, as the dummies are unscathed.

Our Predisposition to Hear
What you hear from God is determined in part by the attitude you carry into any conversation with Him. Our mind-set toward a conversation with God is affected by these things:
· Our Prior Relationship With God — Each of us has a history with God that began even before birth (Jer. 1:5). He ordained us to be on earth, and He has a plan and purpose for us, even though we may not have recognized them.

How to Tell If the Voice Is God’s, Not Satan’s
People often ask me, “When I listen for God to speak after I pray, I sometimes seem to hear two voices. How do I know if I’m hearing from God or Satan?”
This is a legitimate question because the enemy of our souls also attempts to speak to us. We know from Jesus’ temptation in the wilderness that Satan will try many tricks to convince us to listen to him instead of God (Matt. 4:1-11).

Right now, in God’s presence, the heavenly hosts are giving thanks to God. Think about that. As we give thanks, we join the chorus of God’s creatures singing to Him.
Revelation pulls back the curtain between our world and God’s throne so we can glimpse this glorious spectacle. The angels, the beasts (which conjure images of the noble animals in C. S. Lewis’s world of Narnia), and the twenty-four elders offer God praise and thanksgiving.

Surrender
For us to truly forgive those who have hurt us, we have to learn to surrender.
Now, “surrender” can be one of those words that makes people squeamish. We tend to equate it with losing a battle—waving a white flag and allowing the enemy to overtake us. But when we surrender to God, we can view it differently.

Abandon: Materialism
At some point we all think about what we have. We also tend to think about what we don’t have; the list of “don’t haves” is most likely as long, if not longer, than what we have.
This isn’t exactly a bad thing unless our thinking drives us to the point of materialism.

Trusting Becomes Easy
Sometimes it is impossible to know the battles that people are going through by just looking at the surface, but by trusting God we can be guaranteed a victory.
But simply telling stories is not my point, my most fervent desire is to let you know that this revelation will work for you, when you discover how easy it is to trust an amazing Father who handles even the most minute details.

Forgiveness
Many of us carry around the weight of unforgiveness. Some because we don’t know how to forgive. Others because we are unwilling to let go of what has been said and done to us.
Forgiveness doesn’t mean what was done was ok, but unforgiveness only offers us bitterness, anger, hate, and pride. If we’re not careful, our past hurts can shape our lives and destroy us from the inside out.

Continue to Trust
Much of life is a progressive journey in which we can't always see around every corner, but God can. We absolutely cannot lose if we'll trust and continue to trust in God's faithfulness to us.
Trust is a confident hope, a literal expectation in God's faithfulness. The Bible promises that the God kind of hope will not disappoint.
Hope does not disappoint...Romans 5:5

Kenya's Water Towers (1 year Later)
Welcome to a comprehensive follow up of the State of Kenya's Water Towers study which I carried out a year ago and have been keeping tabs on these 5 major water towers.
This is the link to the first research I carried out. This was a month plus of extensive research and compilation of findings that would help shape the discussions and narratives to help conserve our water towers.
Located in the north Rift. It is really a crucial part of the Lake Turkana Eco-system alongside being a main water catchment area for the North Rift.
This is also the one of the primary source for River Nzoia that is crucial to supporting life down stream all the way to Lake Victoria. Many other small streams and springs have their origins here. The status of the forest as of now is least affected by deforestation.
