He was tasked by the Public Interest Law Network (PILnet) to lead a feasibility study on clinical legal education in Tunisia. He has lectured broadly overseas, including in France, Germany, Italy, Lebanon, Mexico, Morocco, Poland, Switzerland, the United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom. In connection with his cases, Professor Kassemhas also conducted fact-finding missions in Afghanistan, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, and Yemen.”

I originally went through their EIN Tax Code numbers, which led to a dummy PAC called AMPAC, The American Muslim Public Affairs Committee. When I searched the FEC records of this PAC, I found a CAIR Houston member named Juhnair Noormuhammed, who is from Houston.

Junair was on the Abandon Harris Campaign and is currently the Treasurer of CAIR Texas.

Authorities filed charges today against Sidi Mohamed Abdallahi for the shooting Saturday that targeted a Jewish member of our community as he walked to synagogue on Shabbat. The offender was charged with 14 felony counts, including 6 counts of attempted murder in the first degree. We are aware that a horrific event occurred late Wednesday night at the home of Rabbi Mendy Klahr.  A gunman entered the Rabbi’s home in Southfield (about 40 minute drive from campus).  Approximately 15-20 University of Michigan students were at the home and had finished dinner when the gunman entered. Fortunately nobody was hurt. The incident is currently under active investigation by Southfield police. Southfield Police are taking the lead because the incident occurred far from campus, but there is close collaboration with UMPD who are aware of the situation.

I have spoken directly with students on the scene and some parents as well. Although we are grateful that the Rabbi, his family and our students are safe, we take the safety of our students very seriously.   I have asked for an enhanced security presence outside of Chabad, JRC and Hillel and again on Friday and Saturday of next week for Yom Kippur.

Counseling will also be made available for any students through student life. We encourage anyone with information on the incident to share it with either the Southfield police or UMPD.
