2022 was crazy.

Here are my 7 predictions for 2023. A thread 🧵 1/ Elon Musk becomes the world's first trillionaire.

He turns Twitter around completely. Tens of millions of people end up paying hundreds per month for the service. With all this cash he acquires Google and Facebook.

I'd bet that within two years, we see our first full production movie or TV series written exclusively by AI.

Here's a fake TV series, complete with character backgrounds, story plots, and the first episode synopsis I got ChatGPT to write with about 20 minutes of effort: First, I asked it come up with some ideas.

I told it that it should be similar to Breaking Bad, where a real person makes a dark live pivot that's not totally impossible (like a superhero) Image

I mean this sincerely when I say that ChatGPT might be the most incredible tech to emerge in the last decade.

Here's how I got it to create a weight loss plan, complete with calorie targets, meal plans, a grocery list, and workout plan 🧵: First, I asked it to calculate my TDEE. It didn't do it at first so I had to explicitly ask it to run the calculation.

Based on my height, weight, age, and gender, it was able to calculate a TDEE of 2168 calories. ImageImageImage

I was laid off from Twitter this afternoon. I was in charge of managing badge access to Twitter offices.

Elon just called me and asked if I could come back to help them regain access to HQ as they shut off all badges and accidentally locked themselves out. @CaseyNewton I’m available if you’d like to do a story on this

I helped someone evaluate a startup offer letter this week as they weren’t sure how to evaluate their stock or cash comp.

I don’t think most people know what to look for, so I thought it would be fun to publicly share how we broke down their exact offer for Twitter: Quick disclaimer: I partnered with @jrdngnen and @compound again to make sure I didn’t fuck up the important pieces around equity grants.

Thanks for making me sound smart!

Several friends have now quit or been laid off from their jobs at startups and have asked me what to do with their options.

Not exercising could mean millions left on the table, exercising could mean liquidating a huge chunk of cash that could go to 0.

Here are my thoughts: Disclaimer: I partnered with my friends at @compound to help with this thread.

I didn’t have all the answers and appreciate @jrdngonen spending the time to get this out to Twitter. Also I am required to say that THIS IS NOT FINANCIAL ADVICE (but ping them with questions).

But no one realizes how terrible their SaaS tools are.

Here are 7 software companies with the shittiest user experiences: 1/ SAP Concur

I’m sad to see employees at Bolt lose their jobs today but it’s insane the amount of recklessness shown from leadership there.

Recommending employees take out full recourse loans to exercise their options when Ryan Breslow is the co founder of the company offering the loans. This is the company I’m referring to. Very easy to connect the dots.

It’s been a month with the Eight Sleep and it turns out I’m really bad at going to sleep early. Pros:
- Love the cooling feature (I sleep hot)
- Vibrate to wake up is nice
- Pretty comfy mattress generally
- Monitoring is nice, feels like accurate sleep metrics

In case you missed it, a small group of us are working to get approval to essentially drop ship European baby formula to the US.

Almost at 200 signatures overnight in support of our petition to the FDA. Help us get to 500 by the end of today! If you’re in a mom, dad, or parents Facebook or group, would appreciate you sharing this there!

Let’s mobilize parents to help us garner as much support as possible

Sharing what we’ve been up to for the past week:
- Secured EU based baby formula producers
- Have backers prepared to finance shipments
- US 3PL and logistics partners ready to go

Next step - collecting signatures and applying for emergency FDA approval

change.org/findbabyformula Here’s our current plan:
1. Submit an emergency use authorization to the FDA for approval to import European formula
2. If granted approval, order a large initial shipment from a trusted producer (already secured) via air to DFW

I feel like I should subtweet my current car buying experience as I trade in my Tesla for a Ford.

Have been waiting >20 minutes for the financing department and it legit looks like 90% of the people here don’t work 80%+ of this operation could be automated except for probably service, appraisals, and home deliveries

I'm going to a wedding in 2.5 weeks and I don't have a suit...

Do I spend the $500+ on a new suit? Feels useless for something I'll likely only wear a few times this one seems pretty good for a black tie event
