Ben Shapiro and Elon Musk think the ADL characterizing Twitter/X as a cesspool of antisemitism is defamation, and calls for boycotts are an attack on free speech.

But it's Musk's bogus defamation lawsuit threats that are the real assaults on free speech.
thedailybeast.com/ben-shapiro-is… This isn't the first time Musk has sued critics for their speech.

"The legal action...make[s] for an easy formula that Musk can use to silence detractors."

Deleted previous tweet because South Pasadena PD has revised their press release, after saying they do not believe Musk's child was in the car, they now say they aren't sure. thedailybeast.com/south-pasadena… South Pasadena authorities do continue to say that "the victim" in the alleged stalking incident was a 29-year-old, who filed the crime report. Musk and his security team have filed no police report. thedailybeast.com/south-pasadena…

MAUS wasn't "banned," but that doesn't mean its removal is a "manufactured outrage" or "fake news" as some on the right have claimed.

It is, however, an example of how great, affecting art gets buried by parents who think their kids need a "safe space." anthonylfisher.substack.com/p/maus-banned-… The school board that voted to remove MAUS from its curriculum cited the book's excessive nudity and profanity as its primary objections.

But other than a single use of the word "bitch" and a frame of a pencil-drawn female nipple, neither exists in MAUS. anthonylfisher.substack.com/p/maus-banned-…

Dave Rubin claims a "big gay mag" was going to publish an interview with him but "cancelled" it because it was "too controversial."

He won't name the magazine, which makes it a little tough to fact-check that claim. He's done this before, claiming that both liberal and conservative shows buried his interviews because they were too controversial.

Again, he won't name them, supposedly because he doesn't want to get into a "Twitter war" despite the fact that he's a name-calling shitposter.

James Lindsay would cancel all of his political adversaries if he could.

Shame on every "heterodox thinker" who promoted this guy as some kind of free speech ally. I mocked that professor's tweets, too, because they were objectively stupid and offensive. What I did *not* do is call for her to be fired.

BECAUSE THAT'S CANCEL CULTURE AND ANTI-FREE SPEECH

When the Obama administration was staging a "day of raids" to nab synthetic marijuana sellers who were funneling money to Middle Eastern terrorists, somehow they ended up raiding this Jewish woman's head shop — guns drawn, "SWAT-team style." Witnesses said they were personally intimidated by Ponton over social media posts describing the raid.

A local reporter told me she was personally scolded by Ponton for her coverage of the raid — and her editors wrote their own pro-law enforcement followups, using *her* byline.

Funny story about Rod Ponton, the "Zoom cat lawyer" that everyone's talking about today.

I reported on him in 2014, when he was a local prosecutor used the power of his office — and roped in federal law enforcement — to harass a former lover. nytimes.com/2021/02/09/sty… I had read about a violent, militarized raid on a small Texas college town's head shop.

The shop's owner was forced to sign an incriminating statement before she could post bond.

After three years and 100-ish dispatches, I’ve hung up my @wethefifth producer hat.

I’m forever grateful to my comrades for inviting me to join for an incalculable number of laughs, a few dozen hangovers, and expanding my booklist to an unmanageable length. I’m not going far, just busy (maybe not Kmele-busy, but really busy)!

Still writing @businessinsider columns and the Insider Today newsletter. Still raising/homeschooling a ridiculous amount of kids during the apocalypse.

Mysteriously exciting things in the works, (stay tuned)
