VCs poured over $10b into crypto gaming over the last few years

but no one seems to be playing any crypto games

so where did all this money go and what happened with it? ↓↓↓ /1 some disclaimers:

$10b might be too much or too little

different sources state different numbers, $5-15b seems accurate

there are probably some notable ones missing

this only includes raises from VCs and not ICOs/nodes/other sales

data is from @DefiLlama and Crunch Base

Gaming will never be the same

The world is changing, we talk about AI and ChatGPT day in and day out.

This will also have significant impact on the whole gaming industry.

I organized my thoughts on the topic below: 👾🧵 Image Since videogames established themselves, the most signifcant changes we've seen either were:

→ How are games distributed
→ Where are games being played

But AI will not only have an impact on the device, platform or business model, but also HOW games are played and experienced Image

Gaming will be the key for mass adoption in web3

But they only focus on grabbing the attention of web3 gamers, how do they plan to adopt anyone with that?

Here's what I want to see more from projects:🧵👾
(and why it's important for your bags) Image Many web3 project pride themselves with "building in public".

I'm a big fan of transparency and insights into development.

But one important aspect is not talked about often:

How do web3 games want to approach the web2 audience?

Facebook changed it's name to meta 7 months ago.

NFT projects promised to build their own metaverse last bull.

But since then, there has been more jokes than developments.

@GetMoonbounce is building a product on the most accessible platform ever - your browser: 🧵👾 Image Moonbounce is trying to make the internet more fun.

It'll have 3 main functions:

1. Social Hangout
2. Landing pages

In 7h we're hosting @TheDeFimons for an AMA.

Here is some basic information to prime you for the spaces: 👾

twitter.com/i/spaces/1jMJg… Defimons has been in development for over a year with 20+ team members.

The game is a fusion between Pokemon and Stardew Valley.

It will be free-to-play and browser based for maximun accessibility to all players (good!).

My first impressions on @TheTreeverse

I was fortunate to playtest the game last week, hunt for bugs and give the team some feedback.

Here's what I like, and think needs improvement: 🎮 This impressed me:

a) Graphics look lovely.

The graphic quality was low for the alpha so every device could play without issues, yet the illustrations still stood out to me.

The world, enemies and characters can make a great cinematic experience once the game is released.

The Chief Strategy Officer of Activision Blizzard thinks web3 gaming is going to be big in the future

@RealJonahBlake hosted @kwee12 on his spaces yesterday and it was packed with value.

I compiled some of his answers and opinions in case you missed the spaces below: 👾 1. Ken thinks Web3 gaming is gonna be big, but it will take longer as many of us hope and think right now.

2. Doesn't expect big AAA games in the next 2 years, but a lot of cool developments in the next 18-24 months.

So train yourself in patience a bit.
