As you get older, the speed at which your body breaks down food onto energy starts to drop

This means that when you swallow that fufu, a huge portion of it is saved as fat.

You noticed that you're not eating as much as you used to when you were younger yet, belle dey big abi? Also, all foods are not the same when it comes to energy.

100 naira and 100 dollars are not the same, in the same vein, 100g of vegetables and 100g of cake are not the same even though they might weigh the same.

Some meals are more calorie dense than others.

So when I was a child, o was the delivery boy for my mum's business.

She added ready-made pap to the akara, and I was the one delivering it from house to house.

This exposed me to quite a lot of people and characters. Some I became friends, others I didn't.

Follow me In that area, there's a cartel of thugs that ran the area. They were one of my mum's best customers, and they sort of "liked" me. This meant I delivered pap to them often and went back to pick up the plates they used (there weren't disposable plates back then)E

I started putting aside at least 60% of my income, and this is how it changed my life, but before that, let me take you back.

I wasn't always a person that saved. After all, this life na one… Until I learned a terrible lesson. Luckily for me, this lesson was early I believed money was for spending and rightly so, but not all your money is for spending. After medical school, I got a few gigs where I got paid and I was supposed to keep that money in preparation for my housemanship. I earned quite some money in those gigs.

I did not see clearly until I was 11 years old and here's what I learnt from that experience

Thread: I am the eldest of three siblings and for as long as I can remember I was one of those kids that sat very close to the TV set despite my parents shouting to leave the TV.

I didn't know how to tell them I could only see the TV when I sit close to it.

It was after I graduated medical school in 2014 and launched into the labor market fully, that I realized life as a young graduate is a full time job on its own.
There are few paid internships for you to learn on the job with.

I started working 3jobs as a graduate medical doctor. Yes, 3 demanding always-on-duty jobs. If you think that a regular 9-5 job is hard enough, imagine working 3 jobs in the medical field.

You know what that means; very little free time for me to do what I was passionate about - which is talking about health.
So what did I do?

I almost lost my business mail account because my bank card stopped working.

My friend can't pay for Facebook ads with his current card anymore.

My content writer can't get icloud with her current bank card. This is a mess we're in. In a world that's supposed to be connected Only a few days ago, platforms that Nigerians like you and I were using for international transactions got shut down. Online businesses are suffering.

We deserve kudos for the amount of hoops we're meant to jump through... just to have a decent chance at normalcy.

I woke this morning and remembered the day I delivered a baby in the staircase of a building

I came to visit a friend in his hospital, the hospital was on the last floor. I ran up the stairs only to be slowed down by this woman in front of me, slowly climbing the staircase A bag was on the steps behind her

Ma, is everything alright?

She shook her head and gripped the staircase hard. I could see she was in excruciating pain.

I noticed she was pregnant! It made sense now!

Why was she alone? Who was with her?
The bag was her delivery materials

WARNING!

If you have a newborn baby, avoid camphor around them and even on their clothes

Camphor is linked to jaundice in some newborn babies

Jaundice is yellow coloration of their skin and eyes because of overproduction of bilirubin. It can cause brain damage. How?

Thread Our red cells contain hemoglobin, this is what helps carry the oxygen from your lungs to other places

When this gets to the liver, they are combined with a compound that makes them less harmful

Drinking water is good, but if you drink unclean water, you could get stomach ulcers.

Many people think that fasting or not eating enough causes stomach ulcer, but it's either bad water or abusing drugs like Ibuprofen in the class of NSAIDS that caused theirs

Let me explain: Your stomach secretes an acid known as gastric acid with a pH of less than 3.5 enough to burn through your skin, why doesnt this burn your stomach?

This is because your stomach is protected by a sheet of mucus like substance that protects it from being destroyed by this acid

At one point, I was working in 3 different hospitals and living out of my bag

I told myself I was hustling, that sleep was for the weak and poor.

Until my blood pressure got so high that I would have had a stroke.

I was only 27 then.

Take it easy.

Know when to rest I used to take 3 bottles of soda a day, at least one energy drink every other sat, I wasn't exercising,

My excuse was "I'm too busy" and yes I was, seeing up to 60 patients a day, it made sense to say that.

But I was slowly dying

Add that to the fact that I weight over 100kg

If we're honest, the only reason you think your wife should seek permission from you before going out is because you think she's not capable of making her own decisions. You think of her less.

She can inform you, let you know of her whereabouts. That's courtesy. Deep down, you don't think she's your equal, you think she's your employee.

Because you don't take permission from her before you go out, why does she have to?

Your wife who is an adult is perfectly capable of making her decisions and the consequences thereof.

Do better.

I know toothpaste adverts show people covering the surface of the toothbrush with paste.

You don't need that much paste to brush your teeth. You need a small amount, like the size of a grain of brown beans.

Also, don't rinse your mouth, just spit out
#WOHD22 It is the fluoride in your toothpaste that prevents your teeth from decaying and prevents bacteria from colonizing your mouth and causing bad breath

Rinsing off the toothpaste just washes off all the fluoride and your mouth is bare again, you'd notice your breath turns bad fast

First off, you need to understand that sugar can be addictive.

Most carbonated drinks can cause the release of dopamine in the area of the brain that also responds to addictive drugs like cocaine and the rest.

Step 1: Know that sugar can be addictive and you might be addicted Because it can be addictive, it can also get your brain to the point where you need more and more of it to achieve the same result.
