As usual, Ric is wrong. I googled France, and here's how they count their votes: 1. France votes on Sunday, a day off. America votes on Tuesday, when only white collar voters get off. GOP would never allow that, since it permits more blue collar voters (often minorities) to vote.
2. France bans absentee ballots. The GOP would love that as it makes it harder for minorities to vote. 3. France doesn't actually have the final results till the next day. 4. French presidential ballots have only one race, so it's easier to count than US's multi races.

A survivor from Mariupol pens an open letter to the world. cyberdisobedience.substack.com/p/mariupol?s=w
He escaped Mariupol, then saw first-hand how his fellow Ukrainians were forced against their will to go to Russia and become “refugees.”

Hey @linkedin, why did the Kremlin Web site pop up, to a page promoting anti-Ukraine propaganda, when my friend in the US logged into the creator app section of your Web site? 1/
He was trying to create an app and gain access to LinkedIn's API. He decided to login via the developer page using Safari on his iPhone. When prompted to login, he did via Apple ID. He went thru the Apple ID process, then was asked to allow location services. He did. 2/

It’s fair for the AP reporter to ask for evidence, that’s his job. But for the AP reporter to claim that the notion that Russia would create disinformation claiming ethnic Russians in Ukraine are under attack is somehow Alex Jones type conspiracy talk is biased (& naive) as hell.
The AP reporter is now giving his opinion, and that’s not his job. Particularly when his opinion parrots Russian talking points, to wit: Russia would never create disinformation claiming “Russians” in Eastern Ukraine were under attack. That’s naive to the point of complicit.

Big brands are back advertising on Tucker Carlson's show -- this time, on an episode spreading anti-Semitism, homophobia and Covid disinformation. The advertisers include: @BMW, @NBC, @peacockTV, @comcast, @WashAutoShow, @CarShield, @Nutrisystem and @Roman. 1/
BMW recently apologized for being the airplane engine supplier to the Nazis, and using concentration camp victims as slave labor. But that didn't stop BWM from advertising on a Carlson episode that warned of the danger to the West posed by rich globalist Jew George Soros, 2/

1. Top Trump adviser/friend Roger Stone is seen with 3 members of the charged-with-sedition Oath Keepers outside the Willard Hotel on January 6. John Eastman says he was inside the hotel that morning with Trump's personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani, in a 'Trump war room' for Jan 6. 2. We also know that per the Wash Post, "Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes, his deputy and three members who guarded Roger Stone exchanged nearly 20 phone calls over three hours on Jan. 6, coinciding with the first assault on police barricades protecting the U.S. Capitol."

Lauren Boebert’s latest stunt is posing with her young children holding semi-automatic rifles in front of a Christmas tree. She stole the idea from another GOP congressman who pulled the same stunt the other day. It’s not only sacrilegious, it’s also kind of nuts.
The latest news is that the Democratic leadership in the House doesn’t want to punish Boebert, lest it detract from the Democrats’ messaging, and ultimately, the battle for control of Congress in 2022. But there’s the thing. Boebert IS our message. Or at least should be…

I have a problem, and need your help amplifying it. @stripe appears to have shadow-banned me for a few years now. No business that uses Stripe to facilitate their payments can accept ANY of my credit or debit cards, even though I have an 800 credit rating. 1/
The same cards work everywhere else, online and off. Only with Stripe sites am I banned. Only recently did I figure out that Stripe was the problem, when my cards were all declined on a merchant's site that specifically told me that there was "a Stripe error." 2/

I get why people dont like the media using “woke,” as it does reinforce a right talking point. But the point being presented is a pretty simple one. Has the Democratic Party gone too far to the left, and our voters responding negatively to that? It’s a fair question.
And for everybody who gets upset at the question, we’ve all been saying for a year or two now that positions that were considered too far left five years ago are now central to our party. So denying that we’ve moved left seems not an option….
So @SNICKERS just produced a disgustingly homophobic ad in Spain in which a flamboyantly-gay guy is cured, and turned straight, by eating a Snickers bar. I am blown away at just how disgustingly bigoted this ad is. This is now the 3d homophobic ad that Snickers has done. 1/
The first time Snickers did this was during the Super Bowl years ago when they had two guys try to kill each other after they accidentally shared a gay kiss. I broke that story at the time. americablog.com/2007/02/snicke… 2/

For everyone saying that Republicans are now freaking out about Covid because it’s killing their base — they knew it was killing their base a year ago. They didn’t care. Something happened in the last week that scared the hell out of them. I want to know what.
And the fact that Scalise suddenly got vaccinated means it’s not simply polling data, fear of losing the House, or even fear of lots of constituents dying. The fear is far more personal if Scalise ran to get a vaccine just this past weekend. Someone told them the sky is falling.

Another case in point. AOC was just on my TV doing interviews trying to pressure Joe Manchin to be more progressive. What impact do you think the figurehead for the socialist left in Congress will have on a Senator from a deep-red state? Her criticism will help him dig in.
The last person we need weighing in to influence Manchin, a senator from a deep-red Trump state, is AOC. So why is she doing it? Surely, she knows that she and her movement not only have zero influence on Manchin, but that her voice is actually counterproductive. Then why do it?

Ilhan Omar just accused the US of "crimes against humanity," and equated the US government with the Taliban. Interesting strategy for holding the House in 2022.
The US occasionally does bad things. Hamas is a terrorist organization. A US member of Congress, who stands for a lot of issues that Hamas couldn’t care less about, should understand the difference. Ilhan Omar is not just equating us with terrorists, she’s normalizing terrorists.

What did they do to our flag?
Okay, just googled this. Apparently, Philadelphia decided to deface the rainbow flag. They claim it was to include “black & brown people.” Except that the colors of the rainbow in the flag don’t stand for anyone in particular. It’s not like red is gays and green is bisexuals. 1/

This is beyond idiotic. We’re in the middle of a debate about how Republicans don’t care about security at the US Capitol, so the socialist wing of the Democratic Party votes against increased security at the Capitol. I tire of this naïveté.
CNN: “Progressives almost blocked the bill in a last-minute effort because they did not support the funding in the bill that would go to the police.”
A) The socialist wing is now “progressives,” they’ve taken over our movement and we now get blamed for their crazy votes….

It’s definitely late. I hope not “too late.” But I have to admit, I don’t see how the GOP escapes from the black hole that is Trump. Trump exposed that the Republican Party is fine with treason, fascism, insurrection, child rape, and so much more (including budget busting). 1/
For the past 30 years since I left the GOP, I’ve disagreed with them a lot. But I never actually thought they were traitors. I never thought they’d willingly hand over our national security to the Russians. And the North Koreans. This is just nuts what they’ve become. 2/
