A student at Duke University in North Carolina after Dr King's assassination (1968)

Always remember that people can be better than the parents who raised them Just a hunch that if you were born white in NC in 1925 you weren’t an MLK fan

The year he was killed he had a 75% disapproval rating in polls

Both of North Carolina’s two Republican senators voted against MLK Day as late as 1994. There were only 4 nays in the 100-member senate!

When police beat a man to death knowing they are on camera, it shows you that they have no fear of consequences

An important part of the fix for this problem is building s Culture of Consequences Police aren’t the only ones responsible for police brutality

Every time a prosecutor lets killer cops go free, it creates a permission structure for this

Thanks to officials kicking the can down the road in the past we have decades of this toxic scaffolding to need to dismantle

Japan’s birth rate? 1.3

The US? 1.6

2.1 children per household is what you need for a baseline replacement rate

Yes, the US has more immigration than Japan but American politicians should be routinely asked what they’ve done to help young people feel secure enough to have kids "Over several decades, young people actually haven’t wavered in the number of kids they want to have (two); but instead, they may be delaying when they have them or ultimately not following through on those initial parenthood desires for other reasons."

Came very close to a fistfight between Republicans just now on the House floor, with the speakership still undecided Context: McCarthy had come over to basically beg Gaetz to vote for him. They had a heated exchange and I think another member came over to remind them to be quiet with all the press around. Then as McCarthy walked away a furious Rep Rodgers lunged at Gaetz and was held back

It’s now been 24 hours since he tweeted this. He’s been silent since he lost. No snappy comebacks, not even a boomer meme.

Beginning to think he genuinely did not expect this result, or even consider it could happen Oh look, he finally just tweeted to say almost everyone should be disenfranchised from polls except his mega fans who pay him for a vanity check mark

The dummies at @AbbevilleInst published a Thomas Jefferson apologist screed about my illustration of slaveholders who signed the Declaration of Independence

They make a mistake in paragraph #1. I made it in 2019; before Covid.

Even Fox News' article on it was better than this! ImageImage @AbbevilleInst The author of their "article" on my slavery illustration also wrote me an angry, unhinged email back in 2020.

So he's been stewing over this thing for years now!

Both his private email and the article itself read as if he was gripping a thesaurus while masturbating. So cringey. Image
