1/ PROJECT FAHRENHEIT: Just announced - we have become a qualified bidder in the Celsius bankruptcy process. We are using the working name of Project Fahrenheit (@FahrenheitHldg). A short thread on what we are trying to accomplish. 2/ A court filing making our bid public is at cases.stretto.com/public/x191/11… and Celsius tweeted it at

I am a crypto guy now, but my TechCrunch DNA still loves the traditional startup of any kind. I recently visited Itay Noy In Israel - itay-noy.com and purchased one of his hand made timepieces. He is Israel's only independent watchmaker as far as I know. Itay has just one assistant. He builds his watches by hand, including designing the dials and movements, hand acid etching the dials, painting them and assembling the movement and case. He's a true artisan.

1/ A thread about doxxing , how it harms people and how it harmed my family. 2/ As many know, we moved to Miami in the middle of 2021. After a long search we purchased a property. Because of the unique and violent security threats against people in crypto, we took extreme measures to preserve our privacy.

1/ Real estate ownership MUST go on chain. I recently took out a mortgage. Couldn't pass up a 30 year fixed at 2.5%. However, 2/ OMG the mortgage process sucks ass. Months and months and months of bullshit. But at the end, free money.

1/ Things that are true:

1. The NSA gathers collects and stores all worldwide communications, including from U.S. citizens. 2/ The NSA can use/share that information with a court order, including via a secret court. The secret court almost never declines requests.

1/ Trying to out my finger on why Miami is so perfect right now. It’s partly the weather, sure. And the best big city mayor in the country by a mile, @FrancisSuarez. 2/ But it’s way more than that. The city is alive in a way that Seattle and San Francisco are not. It doesn’t hate itself, nor is it guilting itself into abasement. It is vibrant, diverse and on the rise. Much as Silicon Valley was in the beginning of my career.

19 years ago I was on a United flight that took off from Uruguay and happened to land at JFK around 8:30 am. The taxi ride into the city was a confused mess, no one knew what happened. Watched a tower fall while parked on a bridge, we never made it into manhattan. Called my parents on the west coast at 6:30 am their time, woke them up. Said “turn on the news, I’m ok, but telephone lines may go out.” Didn’t talk to them for days afterwards. They would have been crazy with worry since they knew I was flying to JFK at just the wrong time.

1/ A product that I want: A laptop shell (case, keyboard, screen, battery) that you put your phone into. The laptop screen becomes the phone's screen, and the phone screen becomes a trackpad. For nearly everyone, the phone has more compute power than needed for everyday stuff... 2/ This would be trivial for Apple or Google to build. But more difficult for 3rd party. We worked with @ideo briefly a few years ago to build a prototype, but couldn't get there technically in an elegant way for a lot of reasons...

Ok, so this crazy Derebit story I mentioned last week. It's a shakespearean drama. Press has been asking me (and everyone else) about it. Instead of saying it all off record, here's what I know. 2/ Derebit is based in Holland. Unregulated derivatives exchange. European law came knocking, so the company moved to Panama (but execs still in Holland). Absolutely killing it. Super profitable. Unregulated helps with friction of course.

Early details at coindesk.com/algorand-and-b… This is a BFD 2/ It aims to solve most of the problems with Solidity, which is used for nearly all smart contracts today. There will be more written about Clarity shortly. Keep an eye out. Could be a game changer.

1/ Two years ago Trump fired James Comey. A lot of people were initially happy bc they watched Comey single handedly wreck Clinton’s bid for the presidency. 2/ but the media was really starting to dig in on the Russia election stuff, and Comey was the ringleader for that investigation. The media hates Comey for what he did to Clinton, but they also needed Comey to be a martyr for the Russia investigation of Trump.

WTI oil is now -$1.43 per barrel. You get paid to “buy” it Image Oil storage costs are typically $1 -$3 per month per barrel. That’s why it can go negative.

Got the email today that a lot of Silicon Valley insiders received. That we can have access to private testing immediately. I HATE that certain people can get immediate testing based on who you are or who you know. https://t.co/qxNEmV5trR

1/ Meet Arie. He was abandoned to the streets in Spain. Someone took him to a vet because of his front leg (multiple breaks & healed improperly). At the vet he got Parvo. Scheduled for euthanasia. Company of Dogs saved him. coil.com/p/Company_of_D… @jussyc123 @Company_of_Dogs Image @jussyc123 @Company_of_Dogs 2/ Arie was taken in by a volunteer. He had surgery to remove the bad leg as it couldn't be set properly. He is now up for adoption. We (@arringtonXRPcap) have sponsored the costs for Arie to be adopted. But all of the hard work goes to people like @Company_of_Dogs. Image
