So what do these two stories have in common?
- they both come from Bari Weiss' site
- they're both violently anti-trans
- they've both been revealed to be completely bullshit ImageImage Reed's story was rebutted by everyone who visited the clinic on top of it being revealed that Reed actively violated patient confidentiality and attempted to sabotage appointments at the clinic for her own ideological reasons. missouriindependent.com/2023/03/01/tra…

Slaughterhouses for non-child bearing adults is where GCs/TERFs are at. These are the same people who when a cis woman tells them they don't want children, they literally see red wash across their vision.

Spoiler alert: Batman is fascist. There was a great SNL skit where Bruce Wayne goes to a charity event for inner city youth and is constantly confronted by how much they hate Batman because he swoops into their neighbourhood every night and beats the shit out of their relatives.

Resolve 18 is genuinely making me question if it's not finally time to ditch Adobe and that's bad for Adobe. I think it finally has the functionality to replace everything I ever use After Effects for.

I've been kind of waiting for this moment because since 2015 I've paid about $5600 for Adobe and I've paid $300 for Resolve.

If I dump Adobe, my yearly cost for post tools becomes $0.

A genuinely good segment to meet the moment. I've got a friend who keeps asking me if I saw the latest Colbert or Seth Meyers segment and I usually just roll my eyes because I have so little tolerance for the spoon fed pablum that is late night talk shows, but this is good.

Trump campaign suing to get public access to view ballot counts.

Why do these people want in so bad to observe? It's so they can suddenly scream they saw some lady pull 5000 ballots for Biden out of her purse and delegitimize vote counts where they're losing. This is exactly what the Brooks Bros riot did during the 2000 Florida recount. Republican junior staffers physically forced their way into the recount office, forcing them to suspend due to safety and then Republican senators got on TV talking about reported ballot fraud.

So the red upside down triangle was the identification Nazis gave to political opponents in concentration camps. I don't know how much more clear they can be that they're just going to start rounding up anyone who opposes Trump. commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Nazi_conc…

I saw someone complaining about it recently, but the bodega breakfast sandwich in BIRDS OF PREY is actually a terrific screenwriting lesson in how to imbue stakes in a object. It's easy to fall into a trap when you create something of value to motivate your character to chase after it that you need to make it something the audience will agree has value.

Already seeing people do the "if Bernie doesn't get the nom, then just let Trump win" thing and ehhhhhhhhh, that's cringy af.

I want Bernie to get the nom and win, of course, but millions of vulnerable people die under Trump. It stopped being theoretical long ago. "The train didn't go down my track of choice, so fuck it, let's go for maximum damage and see if we can flip this bitch," is barely removed from the performative cruelty of the MAGA crowd.

So here's the history of it. In 2007 Steve Bannon joined a Chinese internet company called IGE founded by Mighty Ducks 2 actor Brock Pierce. It did loot farming in games like Everquest and WOW and then sold those items for real money. As an aside, Brock Pierce was also heavily involved in Digital Entertainment Network (DEN), the internet startup Bryan Singer was involved with that saw multiple people convicted for rape of underage boys.

Since we have to go down this road again, it's near impossible to sum up what Gamergate was neatly, but here goes.

A fabricated consumer revolt used as cover to destroy a woman which quickly escalated into targeting every marginalized group that neo-nazi channers hate. It was also very quickly co-opted and accellerated by Steve Bannon through Breitbart. When Bannon was previously at IGE, a Chinese online game gold farming company, he encountered the motivated wrath of angry gamers and vowed to harness that.

"Comedy is a cop out" is a bad take. Let me tell you, it's a lot harder to write comedy that lands than it is to write overwrought melodrama and then just tell Hans Zimmer to lay it on thick.

And the path the final girl, who is almost always the pure (read: chaste) one is layered with a buffet of victims for us to fetishize their demise. I love slasher movies and you'd have to be a fool to not recognize that this is the design. It's also why the killer often becomes the real protagonist of the slasher film as all the victims are the most broad stroke caricatures rather than real people.

Also, there's two reasons by anti-feminist reactionaries love going back to ALIENS and TERMINATOR 2 as examples of "strong women done well."

1) They saw these movies before they got radicalized into reactionaries. 2) Cameron only ever wrote 2nd wave feminists. Their feminism was displayed by acting more like men.

Reactionaries much prefer 2nd wave feminism over 3rd wave which doesn't tether feminism to masculinity.

Okay, strap in bitches, cause I'm going to tell you what Todd Phillips is mad at, and it ain't "woke culture." Todd doubtlessly grew up watching raunch teen sex comedies. He was raised on Animal House and Revenge of the Nerds, and his entire film oeuvre screams that. Road Trip, Hangover, Due Date.... it all fits this mold.

Just a reminder that the only reason Spider-Man isn't becoming a public domain character this year which would have allowed both Disney and Sony to utilize the character is because of lobbying against the copyright act by Disney. I'm always torn about the copyright thing, because while I agree on stuff entering the public domain, there's an argument that can be made about the current cultural relevance of a lot of these characters.

Here's some fun facts about Turning Point USA (since they got me suspended from Twitter for a week):

The organization exists to push the bullshit agenda that there's a bias against conservatives in college.

It's also largely funded by Charles Koch. What you may not know is that Charles Koch is a FANATICAL libertarian who believes taking down the government is his divine purpose.

He even laid out a call to action to shift political thinking in higher education back in 1978.

I'm happy to talk character development, arcs, secondary development and how this relates to story structure.

It's one of my favourite topics of screenwriting. Personally I'm astonished at how much of an arc the Russos have been able to give these characters in the movies they've done considering how large the cast is and how little real estate is available.

Of course if we look at every movie that's been review bombed on Rotten Tomatoes in the last 10 years, they're all movies with female or POC leads, soooooooooooo..... The reality is that the stupid RT thing comes down to a Venn diagram of alt-right, The Men Who Hate Women™ and (yes this is real) toxic DC uber fans who believe film critics are paid off by Disney to give DC films bad reviews.

Who wants to bet it comes down to "Feminazi stole my ice cream?"

Any wagers? I opened the video in Incognito Mode because I don't want this shit staining my YouTube algorithm.

Within 2 minutes: "Movies are being destroyed by women injecting politics and shitting on the fans."

There's a far more interesting version of the movie Solo - a mini thread.

One of things that bugged me the most about Solo was how it seems to exist just to tick off boxes of information we already know. OMG, who's the monster in the pit -- of course it's Chewie.

He's playing cards for a ship - we know how this ends and that it's the Millennium Falcon.

OMG, no one's made the Kessel Run in less than blah blah blah snore.
