I'm listening to Poilievre's interview with Rex Murphy.

Let me start by saying this: if any unestablished journalist showed as much naked deference to a politician during an interview as Rex is showing to Poilievre right now, they'd probably never work again. "Hamas is a genocidal death cult that is determined to carry out a genocide on Israelis, and that would of course only be the starting point," Poilievre said, about 14 minutes in.

No mention of Gaza or Palestinians as of yet.

In 2022, while living in Tunisia as part of a JHR placement, I interviewed the cameraman who filmed Shireen Abu Akleh's murder -- as well as Palestinian journalists who knew her.

My newsroom spiked the story.

But I still have my notes, from my interviews.

Here they are. Abu Akleh, 51, was a prominent Palestinian-American reporter for Al Jazeera.

She was shot dead as she covered an Israeli raid in the occupied West Bank, sparking global condemnation.

I’ve independently verified that this user is a former Shopify employee.

They’re violating their contract and becoming a whistleblower, alleging some of the top ranks of Shopify may be making some worrying ideological decisions. A little while back, I interviewed Shopify employees (with promised anonymity - they feared losing their jobs).

They expressed concerns about Shopify’s decision to work with LibsofTikTok

There was an internal outcry that appeared to fall on deaf ears.

Jordan Peterson uploaded a document with screenshots of the complaints made against him to the College of Psychologists.

The first allegation is that he, a licensed psychologist, made a joke about suicide directed at someone on Twitter.

Here's what else it shows.

Strap in. A tweet from Peterson during the "Freedom Convoy," when he "opined" children's aid didn't need to get involved.

Psychologists have to report when a child is in need of protection.

The complaint alleges the tweet undermined public trust in Peterson's judgement in this regard.

I'd like to see a fuller representation of the tweets that got Jordan Peterson in trouble with the College of Psychologists.

For example, this piece fails to mention whether his professional association took issue with this one: Image I want to know what "criticized" means here, and what the "joke" was that he references.

When I was in Tunisia during Ramadan, there was this moment at a café with friends.

It was about midnight, and we sat there, drinking Turkish coffee and and laughing our asses off at the guy going table to table roasting the patrons.

No one was drinking, and it was a blast. I was surprised at how novel it felt -- I couldn't think of anywhere back home where I could hang out, at midnight, in a room full of sober people.

It would be cool if there were more late-night spaces like that here, where the main activity isn't to have drinks.

The Commissioner of the Emergencies Act inquiry has dismissed Freedom Corp's request to have Brian Fox appear before the inquiry.

"Having carefully reviewed the information provided by Freedom Corp., I conclude that this is, in essence, a fishing expedition," Rouleau wrote. The request also asked to have three others present evidence: Enterprise Canada, David Chan and Shawn Folkes.

Enterprise is Fox's employer, Chan is a freelance photographer, and Folkes -- who identified Fox in an affidavit.

Brendan Miller, the counsel representing Freedom Corp., had claimed during comments made at the commission that an employee of the government relations firm Enterprise Canada, Brian Fox, was carrying a Nazi flag during the protests earlier this year. In a cease and desist letter sent to Miller and published on Enterprise Canada's Twitter on Tuesday, lawyer Jeff Galway from Blakes, Cassels and Graydon said the "unfounded accusation" is "highly defamatory."

Ottawa-based company Shopify is resisting calls to cut ties with the controversial site accused of being anti-LGBTQ2 and known as “Libs of TikTok,” which sells merchandise on the e-commerce platform plastered with allegations of “grooming” of children. The products use the words “Stop grooming our kids,” an allegation that the Anti-Defamation League says has increasingly been deployed over the past year by some on the far right without evidence against members of the LGBTQ2 community; in particular, those who do drag.

There were two distinct groups present at the "Freedom Convoy" protest, according to the public safety minister.

One group was "exercising their lawful right to protest" against specific government policies — but the other, he said, "had other more extreme objectives." This second group, Mendicino said, "was much more sophisticated and organized."

It was "made up, potentially, of individuals who had previously served in either the military or in law enforcement."

"That, to me, raised a concern."

They did, and the CSIS head said it again today -- but there's an important nuance.

Lemme explain. CSIS found the convoy wasn't a threat to national security *as defined in the CSIS Act.*

BUT, Vigneault said today the CSIS Act definition isn't the only one.

For example, CSIS officials said COVID-19 could be considered a national security threat -- but not under the CSIS Act.

Peter Sloly says that when he started as Chief with the Ottawa Police Service, it was clear it needed to be "significantly changed operationally, administratively ... there was a culture that was less welcoming, less inclusive, less diverse, less equitable." This impacted "workplace harassment, member morale," he said.

Law enforcement disagreed during the “Freedom Convoy” protests about the value of negotiation versus police action.

“I felt that taking a longer term approach and potentially getting a bigger win at the end was the way to go,” Acting Deputy Chief Patricia Ferguson said. In the midst of these negotiations, on Feb. 6, the Ottawa police sent a public order team into a convoy encampment on Coventry Road and seized a stockpile of fuel. According to Ferguson, negotiating officers received no warning about the action — and they were incensed.

Watson is criticizing members of Parliament who took selfies with the convoy protesters.

"In a free society, people have the right to protest. But this went well beyond protest. That was illegal activity, hurtful activity, harmful to the public's health," he said.
