I’m so relieved to see that Smith Foundry is required to close this year by the EPA. It has taken far too long for this to happen. In March, I testified in support of an amortization bill would allow the City of Minneapolis to enforce zoning laws & remove polluting facilities. Smith Foundry is closing and our community has cried out for action for far too long, & far too many have been harmed many in waiting.

We need an amortization bill passed in the future so cities can close harmful facilities who have been grandfathered into neighborhoods.

Today, Team Aurin had two door knocks in this disheartening humidity. We talked to neighbors about climate change and the need to not only invest in new green initiatives, but to emphasize the importance of public transit in reducing our carbon footprints. 1/

Having the twin cities marathon canceled today, October 1st, because of a humidity warning is NOT normal for the beginning of fall in Minnesota. This, like the majority of the other unbearable, horrific, life-threatening weather events of late, is due to climate change. 2/
