There's a really common tendency now to fetishize tactics and aesthetics over material analysis, which is what led to 'socialists' supporting Solidarność for instance The CIA is very aware of this and promotes it heavily. Michael Josselson, the consistent leader of the operation, got his start in post-war Germany helping Nazis avoid justice He worked with Nabokov, a White Russian émigré composer, ostensibly on denazification. CANVAS is a tool of US imperialism that we should be studying. It's an 'activist' training organization which grew out of OTPOR, the organization which led the overthrow of the government of Milošević. Currently they're closely involved in Venezuela and elsewhere (thread). Much of the information in this thread comes from the leaked Stratfor emails. Stratfor is a private intelligence firm which developed a close relationship with CANVAS. They admit that CANVAS is an 'export-a-revolution' group funded by various US imperialist slush funds.

Revisionism is not 'anything I disagree with' or even 'anything that disagrees with something Marx said'. Revisionism is using and mangling Marxism to hide political goals. Revising theory due to new evidence is the very essence of Marxism-Leninism. If you think that everything that Marx, Lenin, Stalin, or Mao said should be taken as holy writ, then you are the one mangling Marxism. We are scientific socialists, so we should be dealing in evidence, not deifying theorists.

The CIA doesn't need to do much to convince the right to hate China, to hate USSR, to hate communism, to hate anti-imperialism. "Progressive" news sources that follow the state department line on certain issues such as Syria and China are incredibly useful to the bourgeoisie/government. They act to corral people who are starting to move towards socialism/anti-imperialism. By affirming some things these potential socialists already knew, they establish reliability. They can then draw a line in their coverage, portraying those who disagree to be dreaded "conspiracy theorists", "russian stooges", or "propagandists"

Seeing claims of Vietnamese imperialism in Kampuchea is honestly very sickening. It's quite similar to slander against the USSR as a tool to minimize the horror of the Nazis, but instead it's a tool to minimize the horror of the Khmer Rouge. The most oft-cited anti-communist mythology is the Black Book. Coincidentally the origin of much of the claims against Vietnam is the Black Paper, written by the Khmer Rouge. Much of the Black Book is from Nazi sources.

Today, September 11, is the date of one of the most horrific terrorist attacks in the history of the Americas. 45 years ago the US empire used proxy forces to execute a coup in Chile against the democratically elected gov of Marxist Salvador Guillermo Allende Gossens (thread) At some point I’ll write on Allende’s life, but today I want to discuss briefly the events leading up to the coup, and the brutal events of September 11, 1973 and the following months. It all began on September 4, 1970. Allende won a plurality of the presidential vote with 36.2%
