So i hadn’t seen M (1931) since @karltstraub s basement w a bunch of other stoned friends in ‘84. I really remembered a lot of it and now i know why. It’s mind blowing. It’s a perfect film. Seriously. It’s incredible. It puts so many thriller procedurals to Shame. We watched 1/ It tonight and the script is as morally complex as any novel and it has both a drive and a stillness which can’t be topped.
But i want to write about the sound
Obvi in ‘31 sound was pretty new and he & von Harbau wrote the script w sound in mind throughout
