I’m reporting live from Newcastle Crown Court at the sentencing & confiscation hearing in the case of convicted liar, fraudster & child sex offender #CarlBeech. The courtroom is packed. Some victims of Beech’s false allegations & their family members are in the public gallery.
Proceedings have started on time at 11 am. The prosecutor is addressing the judge.
‘Beech’s crimes were committed between 2012 & 2016. He has been found guilty of 13 crimes: 12 of perverting the course of justice, one of fraud...’

‘In July 2018 Beech was informed he was facing 13 charges of perverting the course of justice. Fails to attend court, having disappeared to Sweden.’
‘In Jan 2018 Beech had received £59,000 as a lump sum from his former employers. Beech purchases property in Sweden.
As Samuel Williams, in July, he purchased a second property in Sweden.’
HH Judge Goss resumes: ‘In Feb 2015 - efforts to trace ‘Scott’ had been unsuccessful.
Beech was told no arrests were imminent.
Beech was told that corroboration was vital. He repeated the name 'Martin Allen'.’

In March 2015 police raid five addresses. Beech emails police about Proctor, whom Beech describes as 'pure evil'.

‘In August 2013 on a visit to Imber Barracks, Beech took photos. Beech then asks for crime reference number so he can claim compensation. Beech spoke to the counsellor about his debts.’
‘He spoke about a boy being killed on a table. The boy held Beech's hand. Another murder was after a game of Russian roulette. ‘John’ was present.
During May to July 2014: Beech visits a long list of websites, including Exaro News. He also searches for Elm Guest House.’

HHJ Goss begins: ‘Public awareness of both contemporary & historical abuse has risen during the past decade.
Each case is fact specific. This is an unusual case as this is the reverse of the norm. The complainant is on trial.’

Defence barrister will complete his closing address this afternoon. The judge will take approximately one and a half days to deliver his directions. Jury will start deliberations on Monday.
Defence counsel: ‘In 2015 Beech began to have doubts about continuing his claims.’
His barrister suggests this is ‘incompatible with a greedy liar, in it only for a pay out.’

Prosecuting counsel is taking the jury through chronology of Beech's recent history - since 2011.
‘Beech researched how to make claims about historical abuse. What hè claimed his father had done wouldn't qualify for compensation.
Then, up pops Jimmy Savile. So, in 2012 he makes the inevitable claim. Savile raped him, so he alleged. Rape = big claim.’
