1/4 maandag heb ik blijkbaar bij @JinekLive geheel radicaalrechts in Nederland diep gekwetst. Ze voelen zich massaal geraakt over een item over de dreiging van extreemrechts in Duitsland, waar AfD geradicaliseerd is (volgens veiligheidsdiensten daar), en mee doet met neonazi’s.
2/4 Alle bekende en onbekende trollen, guurrechtse “journalisten”, @DDStandaard, @wierdduk, @NineForNews hebben onthuld waarmee ze zich identificeren: met de extreemrechtse Duitse onderbuik. NB: het item ging over de dreiging van terrorisme en extremisme over de gehele breedte.
A couple of thoughts 1/3: after every large scale terrorist attack, information transpires that would have served to help prevent the attack had the authorities managed to act upon it. In other words, it would have been even more scarier had this information not been available
2/3 Based on this, and onwhat transpired over the past weeks, it is not clear yet whether this is an intell of a political failure. Yet, we may safely assume that once more this is a classic example of failing to correctly assess your opponent prompted by a serious tunnel vision.

Wat dreef de dader van de schietpartij in Rotterdam? Informatie die inmiddels naar buiten is gekomen, laat - met gepaste slagen om de arm - zien waarin het gevaar van dit soort operationele eenlingen schuilt. Een paar observaties/ nos.nl/l/2492220
Was de dader verward? Veel media spreken nu al van ‘psychotisch’. Maar let op: iemand kan soms psychoses hebben, en toch gedreven worden door een herkenbare set van extreme overtuigingen. Ook een ‘verwarde’ kan onderdeel zijn van een bredere trend, belangrijk om te erkennen.
