Hey, from someone who was without electricity/heat for six days during a bad ice storm up here: If your heat is off because you have no power - a few tips:
1 - Close blinds or curtains to keep in some heat. Even hanging blankets from curtain rods can help keep drafts out.
2 - Close off rooms to avoid wasting heat. Try not to move between rooms much if possible, and avoid opening exterior doors.

Because if I (as a computer-saavy young person) can't find that answer, then my parents, grandparents etc. certainly can't.
