Some thoughts on conflict and personal responsibility, most from the Apostle Paul, but a couple from me, too. 1/ First, Paul from Romans 12:

16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud; instead, associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own estimation.

Why should women have strong, influential voices in church leadership?

A 🧵:

I’ve recently seen a couple of male pastors I highly respect point out that the American church has a discipleship/biblical knowledge problem.

I’m SO glad they see it and are calling it out, but… @KayArthur, late 1960s: y’all don’t know how to study your Bible. Let me show you.

@BethMooreLPM , early 1990s: Ladies, let’s just study it for ourselves.

Jen Wilken, 2015: The Church is biblically illiterate!

A 🧵:
There’s a lot of pushback from evangelicals about spiritual or covenant friendships, chosen family, and celibate partnerships, typically using the accusation that they’re trying to create celibate marriages, as if marriage is the only type of committed relationship. Here’s what continues to be my struggle with women in ministry, especially the SBC debate:
Churches/male pastors don’t have any problem with unordained people doing the work. The problem seems to be people receiving the title that better describes the work they do. 1/ Ex 1: the most recent example. The three women who were ordained at Saddleback have all been serving in ministerial roles for 20 or mor years each. No one batted an eye the prior 20 years. Had they been men, they would’ve been ordained pastors for most or all of those years. 2/

I’ve seen a lot of “well, homosexuality is an abomination, so it IS worse than other sins” statements the last couple of days.

It reminded me of a Hebrew word study I did a while back, just to see if “abomination” is a word God reserved for the “really bad sins”... Here’s the entry in a concordance:

Thread: Church people frequently mock the idea that gay/SSA Christians could possibly have anything unique to contribute to the health of the church. If that’s you, I’d respectfully ask you to read the two threads linked below and see if it’s possible that @TheGrantHartley could teach straight men some things about temptation, sin, self-awareness, and taking thoughts captive and making them obedient to Christ.
