It also weirdly pretends that no woman or nonwhite person has ever told a story about a bad machine.

I got accused of violent queerphobia for saying that fanfic is kinda stupid, but even its fans will occasionally admit that it's pretty damn heteronormative.
(I'm sorry but a straight woman reading/writing man-on-man smut isn't any more of a noble queer activist than a straight guy is for watching girl-on-girl porn. There's nothing wrong with doing this, but masturbating doesn't make you a hero, lol)

I sincerely believe we'd all be better off if we returned to the days when writers openly dunked on each other's work instead of what we have today where we are forbidden from critiquing artists on style or craft so instead we have to make up reasons why they're 'harmful.'
Disguising your petty grievances and personal taste preferences in self-aggrandizing social justice language doesn't make it noble--it just cheapens the cause of social justice. Admit when you're being petty. It's healthier, more mature, and more fun.
