#GARUDA - THE DIVINE KING OF BIRDS

Lord Sri Krishna says in Bhagawadgita Vibhuthi Yoga (sloka # 30) that He is Garuda among birds "Vynatheyatcha Pakshinaam".

In Sri Vishnu Sahasranama Stothram (sloka # 91), Lord Vishnu is extolled as SUPARNO VAAYU VAAHANA.

Panchamukha Aanjaneya Swamy (five headed Hanuman) is depicted as having Garuda as one of the five faces facing west.

Garuda is the Divine Vehicle or Vaahana (chief mount) of Lord Vishnu carrying Him on his shoulders and thus Lord Vishnu is called as Garudavahana.

Garudadhwajah is one of the names of Lord Vishnu; the one whose banner/flag is Garuda; the one who has Garuda in his flag.

Pouranically Garuda is also known by other names viz.
Garuthmantha, Vynatheya, Suparna, Naagaanthaka, Pakshiraja, Vinathasutha.

Lord Vishnu is antaryaAmi of Garuda. There is no avathara for Garuda.

There is a sampradaya to offer #Anna to Crows at the end of Pithru Sraaddha with a belief that if the Crow/s touches/eats the offering, Pitrus gets satisfied (Trupti). It is a Vachana given by Sri YamaDharmaRaja that has an anecdote+ dating back to Ramayana kaala during the regime of Ravanasura, when Bramhaadi dEvatas attend Yagna performed by a SuryaVamsa King (Marut) in the guise of birds. Sri YamaDharmaRaja attend in the guise of a CROW. After the Yajna, Devathas gave boon to respective birds. (+)

Coincidence of Sravana nakshatra & Dwadasi thithi occurs generally during the lunar months of Bhadrapada and/or Phalguna Maasa.

How to reckon Sravanopavasa ? (+) On the elected day,

Both, Dwadasi thithi & Sravana Nakshathra should be Udaya Vyaapini (at the time of Sunrise) extending till afternoon (Madhyahnna vyaapini).

Pramaana of Dwadasi & Sravana nakshatra should be less than 59.33 Ghatis.

EkaAdasi should not have Dasami Vedha. (+)
