I find it very disturbing that a very large section of the media in England is asking questions of a girl who played by the laws of the game & none at all of another who was gaining an illegal advantage and was a habitual offender. That includes reasonable people & I think (1/n) it is a cultural thing. The English thought it was wrong to do so & because they ruled over a large part of the cricket world, they told everyone it was wrong. The colonial domination was so powerful that few questioned it. As a result, the mindset still is that what England (2/n)

The Disney-Hotstar bid for the #ICC rights is astonishing on many counts. For one, nobody had estimated it would breach the 3b USD mark, people are rubbing their eyes in disbelief. This is the best news that ICC member countries could have received. (1/n) It is rumoured that the consolidated bid might be close to twice the size of the next best bid. Even if it isn't that dramatic, it means Disney's assessment is at some variance with that of other qualified, intelligent bidders. Ideally, you want to win an auction with (2/n)

If the emotions have cooled and some of you are done with the abuse and anger, I could explain what happens. A lot of the abuse, and the corresponding motives assigned, came out of ignorance. So here is a thread for those with an open mind (1/n) When you lose power, the generators come on automatically and that is how the coverage continues. But some machines need to reboot and that takes time and that is when DRS is unavailable. This is the situation all over the world. It has nothing to do with budgets or planning.

The ICC has managed what it has wanted for a while; at least one major ICC event every year. And while the expansion of the 50 & 20 over World Cups is a shot in the arm for countries that don't play as much, the primary outcome is the increase in the value of ICC TV rights Remember the IPL is poised to become a 10 team 94 game tournament with the idea being to include March as well. With that expected to draw out a major chunk of sponsorship money, you can see that bilateral cricket will fight for playing slots and commercial revenue

Thread. India's team for the 2nd test is an admission that they got many things wrong in the first test. Especially with the keeper & opener. They must think Shaw is short on confidence because dropping a player after 2 innings means you aren't giving him time to learn (cont) The absence of Shami and Ishant means they feel the need for a 5th bowler which is either an admission that they don't trust 4 or that they expect the track to turn later. Since Jadeja cannot play at 6 in Australia, it means sacrificing the keeper for someone who can bat (cont)

I don't normally like to rant about brands in public but I have no option now having gone through the @HPIndia call centre, their service centre, DMs on twitter, email, false promises, everything. Their after sales (TVS) is callous, incompetent and very very frustrating. If you want to be really cruel, if you dislike someone, gift them an #HP laptop & hope something goes wrong while in guarantee. Then sit back and watch as they search for service centres who don't answer calls, a 1800 service where after all the prompts they are told to call back

The easiest thing in the world is to rant about the rules. The most inconvenient thing is to subject your rant to the same rigour you expect from the rule. Maybe it is time to have a discussion over the playing conditions. But remember when the teams are asked if they want any changes, they accept the rules as they are.
