Our friend made the assertion that In-n-Out is overrated. So as scientists on a stormy day, we needed to test this properly (with options w/in our neighborhood).
Let me say up front we regretted this almost as soon as we started. 1/

Of course I should have known my audience and known a group of microbiologists wouldn't let it slide without photographic evidence.

Ok I'm outing myself here but there was forgotten beef soup in our fridge we just cleaned it out and it was BLUE?!?!? Wtf contam would make it blue??? Like BRIGHT blue!! 🤢🤮 Even w/ all my years in micro I'm not handling this well.

Things I didn't know until after my first external grant as a PI, that I wish I had known before submitting:
- What are indirects, how much are they, and to whom do they go to, and for what
- Who "manages" your grant, orders, hiring, etc, and the processes for each

- How wages/stipends are disbursed, who can be paid off them, what are the restrictions, and what are the processes
- How progress reports happen and what support do you (not) get
- How ordering happens, for different cost levels, & when it has to go through procurement
