Oh seriously?

Print and mail a form - MAIL A FORM - to get reimbursed for at-home COVID-19 tests?

That's really the best we can do 2 years into this pandemic, @WhiteHouse @BCBSAssociation? In 2022? Not even an online reimbursement method, but print and *mail*? What a pathetic excuse for a policy. This is really the best our country can do at this point? Pack it the fuck in, man.

I and @AmyBaugher have an announcement!

But amongst our overwhelming joy I'd like to talk with you all something else, too, if you have a moment: infertility. Specifically male factor infertility.

This is the conclusion of an arduous 4.5 year journey for us.

(1/) Infertility doesn't get talked about enough, but ~1 in 7 couples suffers from it.

Even less discussed is in 2/3 of cases there's a problem with the male or both partners.

You know someone who's dealt with it, even if you don't know it.

Or if not, now you know us. (2/)

With new CDC guidance on COVID isolation, thought it might be good to look at unique data from @NFL, where they test cases each day and (since 12/16) you can test out if you're not likely *infectious* by PCR or antigen test.

50% of players take 8 days to reach that point. (1/n) Some caveats:

NFL doesn't necessarily capture you on day 0, but likely on average is identifying you far earlier than average person, so times likely longer here vs. genpop.

CDC guidance is for asymptomatic. 2/3 of players, but not all, are asymptomatic.

A lot of people may be wondering, with 8 vaccinated breakthrough cases on the Yankees - is this evidence the vaccines aren't as effective as we thought?

The short answer is no. A brief thread: First and most importantly, the Yankees are data from about 50 people.

We have data from tens of thousands in trials and millions in the real world that the vaccines work to prevent severe disease, infection, and transmission. Don't lose sight of that!

This sends such a bad message while more than a 9/11 a day of people are dying of COVID. The NFL should be running a full campaign to *discourage* gatherings.

Or at least have the audience be *all* vaccinated healthcare heroes. What, @NFL, they're not good enough for you? The real problem, of course, is I doubt those healthcare heroes are paying for their tickets. Can't have too much of that!

So "we won't skip the line" was complete horseshit.

It's also worth noting that the "influencer" argument holds zero water until our problem is people actually neglecting to get the vaccine - not our current problems of a lack of supply and will to deliver to AA communities. If you want to help stem the pandemic, start by banning your owners from hosting fans indoors *right now* when many areas are out of hospital beds.

If you're serious, take a step that hurts you and *will* help others rather than one that benefits you and *may* help others.
