Stop acting perplexed that 8 teen girls could kill a stranger. It starts with your 8yo children being able to insult their bus drivers, call their teachers b*tch, and without consequences. It starts with negative parenting & a culture that fails to instill respect in children. Beyond devastating!

To everyone who supported me throughout my extremely distressing experience with the RNAO after I was attacked for speaking out against racism at Polish borders, I'd like to say thank you.

The RNAO has now closed the case. They concluded that their attack on me wasn't racist. They have since "cancelled" me despite still being a member (temporarily for personal reasons). It's beyond hurtful when perpetrators of racism also get to decide what isn't racism. There was no apology or acknowledgement for the harm they caused. Racism is alive in nursing.

For those who think advocacy is mere noise, you're wrong. After countless emails, petitions etc, the Minister of Immigration will be issuing temporary visas for spouses in the family reunification stream. I wish I had this for the 10yrs I suffered. I'm glad others will benefit. About time! thestar.com/news/canada/20… Image

A Canadian tire employee was tasered down by Hamilton police while he was having an epileptic seizure. What is their excuse this time? The Black man was being "violent" while seizing? I thought the police had some type of training to respond to situations like these! Just awful! cp24.com/mobile/news/ca…

I will never ever forget the scariest part of my recent encounter as a patient in one of Ontario's emergency rooms. I had just been seen by a gynecologist in a make-shift room. An hour later, I was still in the room, bleeding, in excruciating pain, and with no nurse in sight... I recall limping through the hallway to find who my nurse was, only to be told they didn't know I was there. I had to speak to three different nurses & one doctor about my predicament until one of them had the time to find me somewhere to sit while they figured me out....

4 migrant farm workers dead in 1 week. This is a recurring tragedy in Canada. A group of migrant farmers have penned an open letter calling for more protection as they report deplorable working conditions comparable to slavery. This is Canada. Do not look away. Do not be silent. cbc.ca/news/canada/to…

Urging the media to speak directly with nurses working w/private agencies. Harmful, incomplete & incorrect messages are being circulated, thus adding to the toxic work environment that agency nurses are already faced with. ALL nurses are exploited, agency or not. Seek the truth! Some charge nurses are giving agency nurses impossible and unsafe assignments, with members of the team leaving them without help or support, just because some nursing leaders alongside the media are pushing the narrative that agency nurses are the ones making the millions.....

Only 8 nurses at this ER tonight. EIGHT. Should be 22. I can't tell you how scary this is. Please support nurses by voting a government that will repeal Bill 124. You will need nurses at some point. This is a matter of life and death. Bill 124 is a wage suppression legislation implemented by the conservative government in 2018. Nurses are quitting as a result of increased workloads and Bill 124. This government has refused to repeal this bill despite province-wide pleas. Patients & nurses are suffering.

Tonight, one of the hospitals has no code blue response team due to the nursing shortage. If you know what this means, you'd be crying with me right now. This is beyond scary! Some hospitals call it the rapid response team, which comprises of experienced critical care nurses who respond to cardiac arrest situations within the hospital. Last time I worked at one of the hospitals, they were looking for nurses to sign up with this team. However, no one wants to, given the lack of incentive for added responsibilities and constant adrenaline rush.

Respectfully Natalia, Polish border agents are only now allowing African students in after public outcry. Yes, there are recent updates after my tweet. But this is only happening because people are speaking up. For example, this was posted 3 hrs ago, one day after my original tweet.

It was a very hard shift.

I lost my patient after 4hrs of non-stop interventions. I did not step out of the room for 4hrs - geared in full PPE, ran out of saliva, my legs could no longer hold me. My colleagues were beyond amazing - admirable team spirit, nurses taking... turns to do chest compressions. We were all drenched in sweat underneath our n95 masks, gowns and face shields. We gave it all we had. I wish the outcome was different! It was heartwarming to hear the nurses, RTs, doctors, psw, social worker ask me if I was okay....

I was really trying to celebrate this win until I heard that #IENs on Canadian soil, ready to practice are still waiting for their Permanent Residency from Immigration to be able to work. Dear media,

Please start profiling the stories of Internationally Educated Nurses (IENs) in Canada who are working with Uber, Walmart, McDonald's, due to the discriminatory credentialing processes.

Thank you We are in the middle of a healthcare crisis with hospitals calling a code orange (disaster from nursing shortage), yet we have IENs on Canadian soil, working in factories. This is a despicable to say the least. Shouldn't be happening in a developed nation...

Seems like no one in govt is seeing the disaster that's happening in health-care 😒. The ER was SIX nurses short on Christmas day, even with triple time and half pay.
Tonight, there's only ONE Registered Nurse on the cardiology floor. ONE. ONE nurse people. Only one showed up. The morgue is full. Patient's been dead since 5pm but nowhere to put the body. 3 ICU patients waiting in the ER. No ICU nurses to take new critically ill patients. There are empty beds but no nurses. The nursing crisis is harming every aspect of healthcare. Urgent help needed!

My ICU colleague is currently in her car right in the parking lot, crying. She said she has no energy left to clear the hip of snow on her car. Got to work at 0630am, first break was 1pm, constant chaos, two simultaneous code blue. Had two intubated patients on multiple drips ... Almost every nurse doubled (ideal should be 1:1), each attempt to go for break meant covering a total of 4 very sick patients. Postponed pee break until near incontinence, was constantly dehydrated from full PPE w/inacessible hydration stations. As if these were not enough....
